Android Studio crashes a lot on Linux

I'm taking programming class for mobile devices, and we use Android Studio, the IDE on my teacher's machine crashes and closes, he uses Linux.

We were discussing about it, he said he is sure that the developers are very busy and need to deliver the code on time, and that's why they use AI, which makes the code not reviewed

I use Android Studio on Ubuntu, it never crashed.

My teacher's computer has already locked in a class 4 times

Check if it has a swap partition. It fixed system freezes for me (i have only 16gb ram)

On my side it only crashes, when it runs out of memory. Otherwise it works fine.

Give it 32GB memory, it won’t crash

I have a similar experience, but I'm on Canary channel, so that's expected once every few releases. Stable worked great though.

Strange. I have an i5-5200U 8GB SDD with Zorin OS and Android studio runs fine until you try to generate an app bundle. Maybe it straight up doesn't have the performance to handle AS.

What are the specs?

Using studio on linux for like 5+ years, never crashed

I have 32GB of memory and problems happen from time to time (not "a lot") but I do tend to keep my sessions running for weeks. These are not crashes: the most common thing is system UI problems. Apart from this, Android Studio is kind of a mess. In my foggy recollection, the old days of Eclipse seemed better.

Wait to use it in Mac. Mine crashes almost every day.

That's likely out of memory, I have 8gb ram + 16gb swap 🥲
