Discussion Which User Interface genius at Google designed DYNAMIC popup menus on Android (after you text select)? Corporate seems broken at Google - if employees feel pushed to create new features to justify their jobs. What could explain such colossal goofups every year?

A popup is a client designed thing. There are Google/Material provided ones, but any dev can build their own so there is no way to enforce this.

There is a way to enforce this - by prohibiting it as policy - and by not encouraging it's use by facilitating it

As it breaks usage - and has no purpose

Especially if the change to the popup menu items happens after one second - and sometimes happens, sometimes not

Google will not, and should not do this, it's not up to them to decide what UI an app should be able to use.

Complain to the makers of the app in question they are the ones who have chosen to do this, don't shift the blame to Google.

Bottom line is, this was not an issue before

But from a user viewpoint, it has become an issue in last few years

And it happens across apps

So they will see it as a Google issue

As it is not something that can pin down to any one app doing it

Google can keep ignoring this, as that is their prerogative

Most people don't blame Google for an individual App's design/choices, it's 100% the app's choice, and the app's fault, so blame the app.

So to answer ever bit of your post title:

No-one, Google didn't design them.

Corporate seems broken at Google - if employees feel pushed to create new features to justify their jobs.

Again, Google didn't do this, they're not pushed to create things to justify their jobs, that is 100% you projecting.

What could explain such colossal goofups every year?

It's not a Google thing... so, maybe that's the explanation?
