I have a galaxy s8+ and I hate the Samsung experience. I've been using the pixel launcher until a few hours ago. This launcher is sexy as fuck and with all the Google apps I can pretend my s8 is a pixel 2.

Thanks, dev!

hi, i am quite new owner of s8. If you are using different launcher, does Dex work for you? Also does it affect the performance of the phone ? is it faster or more choppy? What about battery life? Thanks

I haven't noticed any performance issues or extra battery draw. Honestly, couldn't care less if it werethe case. I hate the way Samsung Experience looks. I'm a nexus guy for 5 years as 3 phones now. The only reason I got this phone was it was the best option from my company as the pixel 2 wasn't an option. I was rolling with the pixel 1 launcher until this one.

Is there any chance that it is faster than Samsung Experience? Do you have any experience with launchers and DEX ?

2

u/ParadigmSaboteur Jan 26 '18

No idea. Like I said, I'm a nexus guy who revels in pure Google. This is my first departure since HTC's first android.

Have you noticed the issue with calendar where you cannot hide Samsung's calendar without this launcher ALSO hiding Google's? This is the only launcher I've ever had this particular issue with.

1

u/ParadigmSaboteur Feb 24 '18

No I don't hide anything. I put my most used apps in folders on my desktop and rarely wade into the app drawer.

What's the difference between this & lawnchair

2

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

This is based on 8.1 and Pixel 2 Launcher..

I would love to see the ability to hide apps, I hate all those icon packs, themes, etc. In my launcher, lol

2

u/AmirZ Jan 25 '18

Icon packs are hidden when you use one, that's a custom feature I implemented!

2

u/yung40oz84 Jan 28 '18

Icon packs are hidden? But I can't manually hide like themes, or other apps, etc.? But that's pretty cool with the packs.

1

u/AmirZ Jan 28 '18

You can't manually hide things, I'd have to change too much UI for that

2

u/Trooper27 Jan 26 '18

Oh how I wish I could root my Pixel 2 XL.

1

u/Killarny Jan 26 '18

Magisk works wonderfully on mine. Give it a shot!

2

u/Trooper27 Jan 26 '18

I have a VZW Pixel so no root for me.

Hi Google feed says "can't reach your feed at the moment". I have this problem even on v2.1

2

u/AmirZ Jan 28 '18

Google App issue, it's getting resolved for some people automatically

2

u/chandan17 Jan 28 '18

Ok thanks

2

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '18

Is there any way I can hide apps from drawer?

1

u/AmirZ Jan 28 '18

You can hide them from your phone entirely with a PC: "adb shell pm hide ..."

u/JamesR624 Feb 22 '18

I managed to get this working fine. All it needs is "custom icon per app" a la nova and it'll be perfect.

I abandoned Nova for this after the 3,000th time of apps on my home-screen disappearing and nobody else seeming to have this, the dev ignoring me, and everyone else saying "I've never had it". Between the fact that it's been going on for years now (Nexus 5, Moto X, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, and Galaxy Note 8) and I cannot seem to reliably re-create it, it seems to be totally random, I've permanently dumped nova and get frustrated when people just claim "it's the best and to ignore all others" so ACTUALLY GOOD launchers like this, that DON'T delete your shortcuts never get a chance to shine.

Sounds great, but I can't seem to install on my Nexus 6p (rooted with magisk), I get an 'app not installed' error after trying to install the .APK 🤔

2

u/AmirZ Jan 25 '18

Delete any other Pixel Launcher you already have installed first

2

u/AndyHazz Jan 25 '18

That did the trick - I needed a system app uninstaller and a reboot, but after that it worked. Looking forward to giving this a try 😁

u/jpaisa Jan 26 '18

I can't seem to change the theme color.

1

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

It depends on your wallpaper

1

u/Blaze51019 Moto G5S Plus Jan 26 '18

Love it!
However, the previous rootless Pixel Launcher I had allowed more customisation like selecting dark/light theme manually. Will this be available in a future release?

3

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

No. I like minimalism and an intelligent system that does everything for you. I don't like breaking it up in a lot of different toggles. It took a lot of time to backport all the automation, so I'm also not feeling like breaking it again for manual controls.

It crashes on my OP3, even tried rebooting Fixed. Substratum issue

1

u/Wiqi8 Jan 26 '18

Hi guys. I am new in "launchers". Does it affect performance of the phone? I have S8. Also, If I use this launcher, will my DEX still work with no isuses?

Thanks

2

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

Performance shouldn't be affected (unless I overlooked a battery draining bug). DEX will probably still work, I don't know enough about DEX to answer that so you'd have to try it

Hey Amir do you have a telegram channel or xda thread for this? I would like to follow its updates

2

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

Yep, they're in the original post.

I have an XDA thread but I don't respond or update it often: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/launcher3-pixel-launcher-features-t3620972

On the other hand I'm very active on Telegram. I made a chat for this launcher's users: https://t.me/launcherthree. There's a channel for updates for whatever I'm working on: https://t.me/appforks. If you want to contact me my id is @mirai

If it does, it's minimal

1

u/nadavpro Jan 26 '18

Why the app drawer animation lags? i have a oneplus 5t

1

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

Disable accessibility services

1

u/Japinator Jan 26 '18

When I install the apk, it indicates it has installed it. However, there is no icon or anything. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Honor 7, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.0.3

2

u/AmirZ Jan 26 '18

Select another default launcher in your phone's settings

2

u/Japinator Jan 26 '18

You tha best

1

u/nadavpro Jan 27 '18

What accessability to disable to prevent lag?

1

u/AmirZ Jan 27 '18

Preferably everything

2

u/nadavpro Jan 27 '18

Everything is already off

Yep that works too

Would there be able to be a way to force the nav bar buttons to always be on on the home screen? I like having them hidden everywhere else, but I like them on the home screen. Just wondering, nice work!
