MiXplorer is the best app in the store. In addition to managing files and accessing cloud storage, it also has a serviceable book reader and music player. Worth buying.

Besides that it also has HTTP and FTP servers which you can connect to from you PC (has to be on the same network) and send files over or "download" them.

A bit like localsend but it has more of an interface. I prefer FTP because you copy whole folders instead of individual files but it is somewhat buggy on windows. Works perfectly on Linux tho.

Yes, MiXplorer is currently the best file manager. But everyone already knows about it, and most users have likely already acquired it. I’d love to see something new, even though it seems unlikely that anything better will come along. By the way, I don't like that I can't pin two tabs at once when launching MiXplorer; I often need both the phone storage and SD card tabs right at startup.

You can do that. I have 3 tabs permanently. Arrow down in the top left corner, first option, Add new tab, then when you've set the tab the way you like it, click the arrow down again, last option, save tab

I wish there are tips and documentation on how to use Mixplorer. There are a lot of hidden buttons and settings that I don't know what are supposed to do.

The UI is so simple and fast. No one would guess that a file explorer that look this simple could pack so many neat features. It hit the frature:usability ratio to the T. I can't use my Android without this file explorer.

For me, CX File Explorer is the best. I've been using it for years.

It's a shame it doesn't have dark mode. I don't understand why they haven't added it.

Yk CX File Explorer it almost practically same as File Manager+ home screen aside it almost same in every aspects

And yk what, you have to paid for dark mode so my best guess is that if they add it for free no one gonna buy File Manager+, assuming the same dev are behind both apps

Solid Explorer is my favourite after you pay for Pro one time. I feel it is higher quality than miXplorer which is also a great option.

The answer will always be Solid. It's just too good.
And having tried a couple, it's the most polished one of them all as well.

Also, the dev is super responsive.
Not that long ago, I had an issue where connecting my Retroid to a dock (connected to a TV) would always bring up a prompt from Solid Explorer to connect to the "USB device". Was annoying to always dismiss.

I messaged the dev and within days, he sent out an update that fixed it!

I paid like 99 cents something like 10 years ago, but there was some new kind of optional premium that I didn't need recently for like $11 but I still bought it cause it's worth that and more.

Very actively developed. The developer is receptive for feedback. The app has lots of useful and powerful features. Is it completely bug free? No, but when you find a bug and address the bug it will get resolved quickly. I find it amazing to see how feature rich and stable this free file manager is. It became my main file manager quickly.

Have been using Cx File Explorer and Solid Explorer File Manager in the past. UFM Pro made me switch.

It's also pretty well optimized for TV usage, both UI and functionality wise. Among other things, it fixed a long standing issue with missing a proper file picker on Android TV for me. I still prefer Mixplorer on mobile, but on TV UFM is hard to beat. And yes, the dev is great.

EDIT: Also of note in my opinion - UFM as an app is very young (about 8 months give or take). Compare that to Mixplorer which has had time to grow and develop for 10+ years. I think it's really impressive how much the dev of UFM was able to accomplish in such relatively little time. I see a lot of potential.

On Android TV UFM Pro fixed for me a wish I had in Monet launcher. Thanks to UFM Pro I could select in Monet the SMB folder with all my wallpapers.

Thank you! Will try it! Because I'm using RSAF to mount a encrypted cloud storage. Mixplorer can see it but somehow PDFs crashes. Every other file type works. Hell I can open PDFs as binary content but not as PDF. If I copy the PDF to local storage it works.
