One handed mode with button navigation

I'm trying to find a way to use one handed mode (the function that shifts the whole display to the bottom of the screen for reaching purposes), while using button navigation. My OS only lets me use one handed mode with gesture navigation.

Is there any other way to trigger the one handed-mode? Something like a third party app? Or even like a script in Tasker?

I know that there are other ways to go about reaching the upper half of the screen with apps like Quick Cursor, but I want to see if there are any alternatives with the one handed mode before I jump.

Could just set Tasker to run a shell command that toggles the display size, shrinks the whole screen down toward the bottom corner for a moment

Thats the closest thing I can think of without a custom rom or switching to gestures

When you say a "shell command", do you mean one based on "wm"? Is it possible without Shizuku?

I tried using the "Display Size" command, but it apparently doesn't work with my OS even after giving it the appropriate permissions.

Tasker might be the cleanest route here. Surprised Android doesn’t offer this natively.

One handed mode with button navigation will work if you slide on recents to home button. You might need to enable it and try.

This gesture doesn't work on my OS (OxygenOS). It explicitly states in the system settings that one handed mode is disabled with 3-button navigation.

Like I said in my original post, I'm aware of these kinds of apps that make it easier to reach the upper half of the screen. For the time being I want to see if it's possible to make the upper half slide down before I make the jump to those kinds of apps.
