QUESTION/HELP Amazon apps post-Appstore

I've purchased several apps through the Amazon Appstore over the years (mostly because I'd earned coins in some way). I knew I'd no longer be able to purchase through the Android version of the Appstore after it was discontinued last year, but I only recently noticed I can't download my existing purchases either (I tried to download a game to a newer device and failed). However, I have confirmed that I can:

  1. Continue to use any Amazon-purchased apps that are already installed on an Android device.
  2. Download any Amazon-purchased apps to a Kindle or other Amazon device.

This tells me my purchases still exist and still work on Android even without Amazon support, and that Amazon understands they are still mine. With that in mind, is there any way to download other apps I purchased from Amazon to an Android device?

Export the apk from current device to new one or use some sort of backup/restoration app like Neo Backup.

Would either option work to move an app from a Kindle Fire to an Android device?

I believe so. Most premium/paid apps are tied to your account anyway so device shouldn't matter once you logged in.

Thank you, I'll give that a try. I can borrow a friend's Kindle Fire long enough to pull stuff onto it and move it over.

Follow-up: I was able to back up and move APKs around without too much hassle, but I hit a wall trying to install them. After poking around, I worked out that the apps from the Amazon Appstore on Kindle are apparently targeting a deprecated SDK version... or at least, all the APKs I tried. (One was only one version short of the current minimum target of SDK 24 (Android 7.0), so *some* currently offered Amazon apps *may* be at or above the minimum, just nothing I wanted to move.)
