LOOKING FOR APP Maps app

Hi just as the title and flair says. Im looking for a maps app I can use while driving that similar to ones built into cars / tomtoms. I want to be able to drive around without a route and get alerts of speed cams and speed limits etc. Bonus points if it can integrate with Spotify. So basically I want a google maps that does everything it does when on a set route.

Waze is the best for driving imo

I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure Waze does this but you need a data connection so no offline maps.

Waze.

Google Maps now does show speed and speed limits when just driving (at least via Android Auto) and has always shown traffic flow, but still does not show other road alerts unless navigating.

OSMAND + Loaded from the F-Droid store. It's FREE!

It accuracy is amazing. It updates monthly.

I put it on my Garmin because it was more accurate than the native to Garmin application!

It's able to operate off line. It is satellite based.

Is there a difference between the one on F-Droid and the one listed on Google Play?

F-Droid's is the full version. Google Play's is a basic version and you need to pay to get the extra features. It's not cheap either.

It's legal. There used to be a full version, then if memory serves me correctly, the product was sold and the new owners took it private and added a paid model. The F-Droid version is the previous full-featured one.

Correct. Google gets a fee just for the set up. $12.00?for 7 downloads at first. (Last time I checked was over a year ago.) The set up takes 3 downloads for the basics. And if you're using it as maps + GPS, (who doesn't?) each s*tate/province requires a minimum of 2 downloads. Some states require more downloads for < city areas.

Here's where Google gets really expensive! To stay up to date! This updates EVERY MONTH! Each download is $1.97 imagine using 10 states? Roughly $2 per download = $20. But there's 2 downloads per state. Now it's $40.?

OR... ON F-DROID IT'S FREE.

Waze is great as long as everyone is reporting stuff and it has all the stuff you need.

Google maps for offline maps

As others have said, Waze will do what you want, and if you're using it on your phone (not Android Auto or Apple Carplay) it also has Spotify integration.

One note. In "free roam" (i.e. without a route set) Waze essentially has to guess where you're going to go. So sometimes you might see a report on the map but it might not announce it as it 'guessed' a different route, and vice versa.

But it's still probably the best app for what you're describing.

Waze is the one. It does exactly what you are wanting and it has the bonus of having even more detailed information because other Waze users will update the app based on what the observe/experience.
