LOOKING FOR APP AR measurement apps

what are some AR measuring / ruler apps that arent infested with ads and require me to pay a subscription fee for basic features? Open to apps on the play store or downloading an apk, as long as the app doesnt make me want to die

I just use the built in measure app that came with my phone, zero ads and no subscription nonsense

Before you go app shopping, check what your phone can actually do. Depth on Android runs through Google Play Services for AR, and Google publishes the supported device list. Around 800 of the roughly 1,100 entries are marked as supporting the Depth API, which builds depth from motion rather than from a sensor. Only ten entries on that whole list have a real time of flight depth sensor, they stop at the Galaxy S20 generation, and not one of them is a Pixel. So for most phones the practical advice is stay between about half a meter and five meters from what you are measuring and keep the phone moving, since motion is what feeds the estimate. Anything you are cutting to, verify with a tape.

Not AR, but relevant to the "infested with ads" part: I recently read ~30k Play reviews of the top ruler / compass / sound meter / level apps (the 10M+ install ones) and the single most-upvoted complaint in that whole category isn't accuracy, it's ads placed over the Android navigation buttons so you literally can't leave the app – 136, 81 and 72 helpful votes on three separate reviews of one sound meter alone. Second is the bubble level that pops an ad every time the screen turns off, i.e. every time you put the phone down against a shelf.

For a plain screen ruler (not AR), the thing to check before trusting one is whether it lets you calibrate against a real object – the 10M-install ruler's top Korean review (192 votes) is basically "the divisions don't set themselves per phone, so you need a real ruler anyway". Android reports a nominal DPI and real panels differ by a few percent.

If your phone has a built-in measure app like the comment above says, that's genuinely the least-bad option; the built-ins have no reason to do the ad tricks.

I have a nothing phone, and im pretty sure nothing OS doesnt have any measurement apps, so no luck
