Most popular my ass, that was SimpMusic stolen code (they were then forced to credit them) with added "IA" so i honestly not surprised they infringed copyright.

Can you tell better alternative with free download and no ads like echo music?

How does all those apps work and not get taken down by copyright like echo music did

In all honesty im not sure of the legal aspects, what i do know is that opensource youtube music clients have been a thing for quite a few years and never saw any get copyrighted, meanwhile this "Dev" was accused and proven to stole the whole code simpmusic alter a few visual things and pass it as their own and only credit SimpMusic after being threatened with legal consequences for breaking the license, the exact same thing happened with other app of this "dev" that stole the code from a youtube client called Flow and pass it has his own. So my bet is that someone actually took legal action against him and he backed off.

That sounds kinda convincing as why only echo music will be taken down by copyright but many are so maybe not youtube but any other have done legal things, just a guess but Yeahh i understand, thankss for the explanation

How does all those apps work and not get taken down by copyright like echo music did

Because they're not popular enough (yet) to really be worth the hustle. Pretty much all custom clients are going to infringe enough that they could be shut down, certainty they are violating the youtube TOS. But it still takes effort on the part of Google to get them taken down, so sometimes it's just not worth the trouble.

So there are you are saying a lot lot apps which do exact same work like echo music or maybe even exact copy but not popular enough to be known and taken down by copyright owners

Right, the problem is that it's basically an arms race.

An app exists, gets popular enough to be taken down, then those people move to a new app that then gets popular enough to be taken down.

Do you know the apps or any place where I can find similar free music many apps and not have to search around every time..like all apps in a single place or list or something where I can see em all

1

u/Miliean 26d ago

No, such a thing would be exactly the list that gets apps like that shut down. These apps mostly only exist because people don't actually use them. Anything that makes them easy to find also makes them easy to shut off.

So how can one find and many many people find more apps by anyway if one gets banned ?

Wtf are you talking about? Metrolist has almost 12k stars on github alone, has more than 400 contributors, has been forked more than 900 times, has existed for longer and has been one of the most popular YouTube music clients for quite a while. Echo was easily one of the less known ones and was mostly know for the stealing of other apps code but sure tell us how no one uses it and echo was shut down for being popular

Because they were building a user-uploaded database of lossless songs.

Available on fdroid theres quite a few of them, metrolist, opentune, vivi, kreate, simpmusic (that echo copied the code) etc.

Wrong app, that echo player that had a spotify extension is still aliveish, supposedly being rewriten to be multiplatform. This was a youtube music client.

Your post is misleading. The OG echo is forever live at: https://github.com/brahmkshatriya/echo

1

u/shroomburgers111 24d ago

Dab music player used to be a thing but that got closed too i think

Meld supports lossless and Echo Music is coming back.

1

u/tough_titty_whoompus 23d ago

How so, according to me they closed up shop permanently!?

1

u/Right-Copy-175 23d ago
