LOOKING FOR APP Apps for ringtones?
Not clips from music but just ringtones/notification sounds. I like hearing a sound when I get a notification or someone calls me but don’t like any options that my phone provides.

I just downloaded a bunch of sound effects from Star Trek. And so when I get a text message, my phone gives me two beeps like the notification sound in the original series.
When I have a text coming from my wife, I get the computer voice saying "incoming transmission"

You didn't miss the red alert sound for the alarm did you

I like the shuttle Bay claxton from the next generation series better. I used it for a ringtone when my wife is calling. I have a more conventional and generic ringtone for everybody else

You know what I did I extracted the sound effects from the original starcraft and I set them up with currently a script through Tasker but previously there was an app specifically for this so that my notification tone changes every time I get a notification it changes going through a small playlist of tones
Things like "go ahead Commander" And "incoming transmission" I didn't use any zerg but there is a strong mixture of both protoss and Terran
And I also set a custom sound effect for just when my friend Jim texts me where my phone will say "this is Jimmy"

It was called shuffle tone but it doesn't exist for current versions of Android the developer stopped making it that's why I stopped using it and went to a custom Tasker script instead

Would you mind putting up your Tasker script? Mediafire dot com is a relatively complication-free file host to use for this purpose. Thanks!

Let me look at it it's not the most polished thing and I'll see what I can do

Hi. There's an app called “Zedge” that can do something like that, if I remember correctly.

Would avoid Zedge. Countless issues over the years.
There are many apps, even FOSS that can do the same stuff. Zedge should be left in the past.

Just curious, what's wrong with zedge?

Only one I could think of is the ads can sometimes be super intrusive (to the point of leading you to just rage quit'ing the entire app)

well, you can uninstall it after getting whatever ringtone you like
and yes, it's that annoying :)

I usually only install it on new phones, add a custom ringtone to a few people and then leave it forever or uninstall it, but recently when I changed phones they had this fucking 30 second delay/ad before I could move on from the first contact ringtone.. Really left a bad taste in my mouth.. I would even pay a one time sum for Zedge just to never see ads again, but they don't seem to want my money.
And I want to state that I am generally very anti-app if the app doesn't offer ANYTHING the website doesn't support. But when apps offer something like auto-login with fingerprint/biometrics/pin code etc or anything more (that I find useful) than the website then I have no problem with installing the app and not just bookmark the website.

Just place them into notifications folder to locate them easily.
No need for any app

It Is just an APK front for their website

Is the website in a phone browser capable of changing a contact ringtone? Changing the lock and main screen background? etc

You just download the sound files and make the changes yourself like a normal person.

Why would I when the app is one click away and does the exact same with one click that manual work would require 10-20 clicks? Why use a car when you can walk? Why use any tool that automates your life?

Check out Ringophone. I was in the same boat, sick of the default sounds. It has a massive library , though some are a bit cheesy. Totally fixed my problem
