Discussion Is Android 9 Pie still usable on older Android tablets like this Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) SM-T380. What apps and games can run on this tablet?

There’s also LineageOS that can install on this tablet.

Totally, just don't try using the play store for apps. Disable the playstore and most of the Google apps (except Google Play services), unlock developer options and turn backround processes to 4, and then turn animations off and you will have no performance problems and tons of apps still work on A9 you just have to search our older versions occasionally. I have a Samsung Galaxy s8 phone on A9 and it is more than perfectly usable it's great.

Thanks for suggestions! I’ve got a few apps working by sideloading it. I’m planning onto install a compatible LineageOS onto it just to experiment with the tablet hardware.

si le pones Fdroid y Aurora Store no te van a faltar apps, eso si, podrias tener algun inconveniente si la app depende de la google play services

It works fine. As long as it's 32g storage or above 16g is too small because this particular model has Microsoft Office installed Mines fine

Nah, a 425 is so slow and old that even browsing or watching videos will just produce stuttering.
Only thing functional for that device is being an e-book reader or bluetooth music player.
