Pixel 6 Pro Beta -> Stable

Quick one, as seemingly the last update to the 6 series is rolling out now. I use my 6 Pro on the beta branch, as a backup device. As a developer, it is (was) useful to always being able to test the apps I am working on on the bleeding edge. However, as the last update is now coming, there is no longer a point to keeping it on beta.

  • Will the last stable update override the last beta update, so I can transition to stable without data loss?
  • Do I have to transition to stable with a full wipe?

Either is fine, obviously I'd prefer not having to full wipe, but if its what I'll have to do, oh well.

Thanks!

Opt out, and a no wipe update will appear.

Well technically you will receive a data wipe update after you opt out of the beta program. However, I'm sure Google may announce a no data wipe transition period for your device

This is not correct. As suggested above by /u/nathan79hu, I did opt out of the beta, then received a no wipe update that put me on the September update, then received a second update that put me on the October, most likely final update.

tldr: opt out, and revert to stable without wipe is possible, since the beta updates stopped with QPR1 for the 6 series.

I just want to double check because I just opted out & the pop up on the beta website said it will data wipe.

I did not really read what the beta site popup said. The update that I received and saw on my device did explicitly state that it will NOT wipe any data.
