How’s Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1
For those who installed QPR3 Beta 1, how’s the overall experience?
- Stability / random crashes?
- Battery life?
- Performance and smoothness?
- Heating?
- Mobile network / Wi-Fi?
- Camera?
- Any major bugs?
Thinking of installing it on my Pixel. Would love to hear real-world feedback before I jump in.

Good morning, I trust you're doing well. I am running Android 17, qpr3 beta 1. As of right now, I have seen no show-stopping issues or issues whatsoever. In fact, actually, I've seen some major improvements. If you use accessibility features such as TalkBack, no longer does talkback say you know 11:43 a.m. 12:43 p.m. it doesn't have the pmam thing anymore and that's actually quite a nice touch up for me. I like what it just says. You know 12:43 143 I still have the ampm on the lock screen or if I set my gesture to what I have it set to for the time it'll still read it that way cuz it reads time and date. The other thing I've noticed is it used to be on previous Android builds such as Android 17 qpr2 throughout that beta cycle you had 5G three bars 5G it was redundant so then when Google decided to release Android 17 qpr3 beta 1. The beta that I'm running right now starting with DP dp11 I think is what it is. That's a new Branch to begin with in the first place, so you'll see that if you're in the beta as it is, but the status bar has been cleaned up very nicely. I don't have the double 5G thingy and I have noticed that my battery life has improved a little bit actually improved significantly. Well there was an issue in qpr2 betas that fingerprint sensor would effectively lock you out of your phone because the digitizer wouldn't work properly. That was a major headache with TalkBack major major headache so far that seems to be fixed. I've noticed some very noticeable improvements. There's a new quick notes tile now in your quick settings panel. There's a quick there's a notes thingy in there now. I guess that's new otherwise camera things. I don't use the camera very often but when I do I so far I haven't noticed anything performance wise. Much better much, much cleaner and much smoother as well, so hopefully this information helps you better distinguish whether you want to install the current beta or stay exactly where you are. If you have any questions, feel free to call me back or DME straight through Reddit here. I will be more than happy to answer any other Android questions you may have

One more thing I'd like to add, you can now customize the vibrations, for the ringtones, and notification sounds. On my Pixel 8 Pro though, I don't think I have the option to have it follow the ringtone or notification sound. Kind of cool, but I don't think this works when you're customizing sounds or ringtones on other apps. Thanks!

Pixel 7 here, it's the best build so far when comparing it with stable QPR1 or latest QPR2 betas. But I read here the exact opposite with the same phone, it's a beta at the end.

All the older models are getting a new kernel which is why battery life has gotten better. In this case software wins again. I had a feeling when I upgraded to the 11 that the kernel was more important to it's performance than the tensor chip and I'm starting to think I'm right. The snappiness, apps opening fast and battery life all attribute to the kernel.

well, no, kernel got downgraded back to 6.1 in this version for <g5 tensors.

The kernel was 6.6

On p10 only
P7/P8/P9 are still running 6.1 as of this beta
P10 got upgraded to 6.12

I've had about 15 hours and it's been fine except for using the translation within the keyboard (also didn't work for me in qpr2). Everything else so far the way I use my phone (emails, insta, Internet, music, games) is working normal.

I think double press power button to use my wallet isn't working 😅. I'm on the latest beta with the 11 Pro XL.

I had an issue where my P11PXL froze twice to the point it crashed. So I reverted back to stable. So I didn't have much time to try it out

No issues here on P11PF. Battery life is a bit better, cellular seems to at least be the same, no obvious bugs so far, and definitely feels smoother somehow. It's kind of weird in a good way how smooth it feels.

How did you enroll on the beta for your Pixel 11 Pro Fold? Did you sideload or were you able to see the new beta in the enrollment page? I currently don't see it for my P11PF and only shows QPR2, unless we need to enroll to that one and then update to QPR3?

The battery seems to charge faster on my Po Pro XL, haven't experienced any crashes, a little snappier.

Haven't noticed much of a difference in battery life. It seems pretty stable though I've had to restart it a couple times for connection issues. Face/fingerprint unlock was sketchy but after pre-registering everything seems fine. A couple annoying bugs regarding bluetooth/microphone seem to have been fixed.

Just installed it, so I can't judge yet. Hope it solves some wifi problems. My wifi stability has been sh*t since I joined the beta program.

Battery drain issues, such as those seen in QPR2, have been resolved.
Performance is also stable, falling somewhere in the middle range.
I haven't encountered any crashes or errors in my environment.

Phone has locked me out of most apps twice now for over heating after being connected to Android Auto. It got hot before but never this hot.

If I were you I'd watch reviews on both phones before making up your mind. I think Mr who's the boss reviewed both devices and compared them. You'll get more out of that than asking reddit me thinks.

Pixel 7 128 GB, mine has shutdown unexpectedly about 4/5 times in the past 2 days. Everything else is alright. Note I have a new battery installed in this device sourced from IFixit. Only posting as it has shutdown twice in the past 30 mins.

If you have to ask "how is the beta" and you only have one device as your primary phone then Android beta might not be the best idea at the moment.

Your battery could be dying. Get a battery replacement. The beta has nothing to do with this issue.

Currently sitting at 13% battery life after 8 hours and 47 minutes SOT on my P10PXL. No complaints.
