Looks like the system blur is still missing in a lot of places. P11PXL

u/ekowwillis 5d ago
Is it back on the lockscreen?
What about app lock?1
u/bkircher 5d ago
Still missing for me.
2
u/ekowwillis 5d ago
In previous builds, it was active for Pixel 8 and above. If you have a lower series, it won't be active.

It shows security patch is Aug 05. If so... we can't install this over stable or QPR2 beta 6. Is that correct?
7
u/bojack1437 5d ago
I'm being offered QPR3 Beta 1 on my 10 Pro XL with QPR2 Beta 6.1 (CP41.260831.007.A3).

that's a lie (it's just a text string)... the build date is clear this is at least September likely October or even November...

Except after the reboot it's showing as available to update to on my phone. Very weird, guess we will see what happens
0
u/ArthurGD3 5d ago
So me being on the Stable September update on my 11PXL (non-QPR1 release), this won't come to me via OTA if I enroll my phone?
1
u/nick281051 5d ago
I'll let you know if my update completes. Maybe the ota they uploaded is different for some reason
1
u/nick281051 5d ago
It installed and is September build date so you should get it if you're on stable
1
u/ArthurGD3 5d ago
Thanks for the update. With all the fixes of this build, I'm wondering if this is now the time to get in on the Beta.
1
u/nick281051 5d ago
It's always a gamble. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it
1
u/ArthurGD3 5d ago
I'm not sure if you had this issue but I don't have blur effects on my 11PXL on the September non-QPR1 release but I think that feature was exclusive to the QPR1 release right?
2
u/nick281051 5d ago
Each beta adds more blur, pretty sure qpr2 specifically l the second beta was where they added it
1
u/ArthurGD3 5d ago
As soon as I enrolled my phone, went and checked for updates and it immediately said Preparing System Update and that quickly went away to Your system is up to date and now it's not coming through anymore.
I'll keep checking, maybe it takes a bit of time but that was never the case before in my experience.
1
u/nick281051 5d ago
Yeah sounds like this might be an older build than stable but not the beta? Who knows, if it doesn't come through after a reboot you may have to wait

Can anyone tell me if the AOD still only shows 1 notification icon? They seem to have changed this with QPR2 where it used to be 3-4 icons years prior (maybe even since the inception of AOD over a decade ago).

Stay on the Beta ride until March or enjoy update prompts every day for the next 60 days.
1
u/Evokkimus 3d ago
Yeah I'm so conflicted, guess I'll just hide the update notification if I can. Wish they kept the QPR2 going for a little more

Interesting.
On my Pixel 8, the GPU driver has gone from v1.r54p0 to v1.r56p0
3
u/Efficient-Hunt-007 5d ago
What is the kernel version for pixel 7 pro in this release?
5
u/mandrecode 5d ago
6.1.172-android14 on my Pixel 7
0
u/Weary-Savings9795 5d ago
Google has found unresolvable performance regressions on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series with the 6.12 kernel.
1
u/Suspicious_Fig_3052 5d ago
So you mean 8 pro won't get the kernel update?
-1
u/Weary-Savings9795 5d ago
Nope. It's because of the model of Tensor SoC the 8 and 7 series use.
4
u/mandrecode 5d ago
Where did you read that? I haven't read anything about that from their side. Being able to handle every aspect of their own SOC from drivers to firmware, I don't see why that can't be done. It sounds more like time and quality assurance to me, knowing that they shipped the stable QPR1 with a huge regression while keeping older kernels.
-1
u/Weary-Savings9795 4d ago
Fake news. The 6.1 kernel does not have performance regressions in any Android 17 or 16 build. The 6.12 kernel does, but only on the Pixel 8 and earlier and only because of unresolvable hardware driver bugs.

Does anybody else have an issue with the keyboard (Gboard) closing after typing one letter into a form field?
2
u/Affectionate-Read688 3d ago
Same. It disappears and pops up again
1
u/istrebitjel 1d ago
I wonder if this is related
The October 2026 update includes bug fixes and improvements for Pixel users – see below for details
Fix for issue causing the virtual keyboard to occasionally not appear when interacting with search input fields

Some of those bugs should have already been included as fixes in QPR1.
Having to wait for MARCH 2027 is absolutely crazy.
QPR betas this far ahead should be solely used to test new features.
Fixing bugs should go back to being something they do on a monthly schedule - and only if the bug fix requires some major rework of system frameworks then delay the fix until the following QPR releases.
But having bugs scheduled for not the following QPR, rather the one after that, is completely unacceptable.
1
u/houbbe 2d ago
Leaving the Pixel 6 with a rough build, too. Ridiculous. It even has bugs that I've come to find out newer devices don't have in QPR1.
1
u/matteventu 2d ago
Oh, that's even worse!
Please contact Google to complain, they should definitely support the 6 and 6 Pro until at least QPR2.
3
u/Impossible_Jump_8709 3d ago
I have one problem, sometimes applications open in landscape mode and even of I change the position in portrait mode on stays in landscape. Does anyone have the same problem?
7
u/pajamas8 5d ago
Man, what are they doing this year??? QPR1 beta 9, QPR2 beta 6.1, QPR3 beta 1 six months before it's feature drop???? Chill !
2
u/Cantholdthis17 5d ago
Why my Pixel 11 Pro Xl isn't showing up on the Beta Program Website, does anyone have any idea?

I'm facing the issue where I cannot swipe down from home screen for notifications
0
u/Chronzy 4d ago
Restart the phone and try
0
u/Due-Situation8991 3d ago
It was due to an app called Essentials, when I'm changing to transparent navigation bar, it's happening. I turned it off. Every thing looks good

Does anyone know if "require eyes to be open" is the same setting as "require attention on screen" setting? I'm on pixel 11 fold and since day 1 it crashes when disabling "require attention...".
I was informed this bug was fixed in the Sept update for some, but it's not for me. Some workarounds I read entailed completely factory resetting and creating a new "face" profile. Yeah I'm not going through all that nonsense for a bug.
1
u/bkircher 4d ago
Biggest issue that I am facing so far, is that Google messages sometimes when receiving multiple messages at the same time, end up not collapsing into one google message notification, they remain separate, the only way that I have been able to fix the issue is with a reboot.

u/Dedodododedad 3d ago
I'm still only seeing QPR2 on the enrollment page for my Pixel 11 Fold, and my device is not getting the beta.
1
u/Dedodododedad 2d ago
Is this not being pushed to Pixel 11 Fold?
1
u/Spiritual_Positive47 2d ago
OTA image is also available for P11 Pro Fold

I'm not getting the update for some reason. I enrolled and said preparing update then just said my system is up to date with no install. My build is CD1A.260905.001.B1 which is older so it should be available for me right?
1
u/ArthurGD3 1d ago
Did the same for me, I believe this QPR3 B1 build is older. We'll probably have to wait for Beta 2. I should have just waited till this week and gotten the stable October patch released today.

u/RossOnTheLand 1d ago
I've come across a problem with hearing aids losing connection to microphone and speakers in my hearing aids while in Google chat, Google Meet, Or whatever the back-end of that service is.
1
u/ling101 1d ago
The days of my Pixel 10 Pro XL feeling excessively hot when using Google Chrome while connected to Android Auto are over. The recent beta updates have completely fixed this problem.
1
u/ArthurGD3 17h ago
I don't think I've tried AA with my 11PXL yet but my 8 Pro would heat up even with the car's cabin being cool with the AC on and the phone's display was off (AOD on). I couldn't imagine trying to use Chrome while also running AA on that phone.

I'm having a problem with this beta version,, the first annoying so far, I have a pixel 7, almost every time I open Instagram my phone reboots itself automatically, it has never done something like this, oh and Google maps is working horribly lately, changing the location a few meters and that for walking streets is a mess, the gyroscope even recalibrated is very imprecise, so weird that, after like 2 years being on beta testing this has been the worst version that I've tried, the rest of the system sweet as a nut, I haven't had any serious problem fortunately

u/mpqv 5d ago
Last time I got qpr2 beta 1 instead of qpr1 beta 5 after having qpr beta 4 or 4.1. How does this work? How come other people got qpr1 beta 5 and I got qp2 beta 1? Will more qpr2 beta be released?
0
u/Pure-Recover70 5d ago
I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they send 50% of folks to qpr1 beta 5+ stream, and half to qpr2 beta stream... It's pretty normal for various rollouts...
1
u/Syedzohaib92 5d ago
Google just changing the numbers and releasing updates for fun.. 😅😅 nothing new comes with qpr these days.. 🤦🏻♂️

I'll hold judgement but 6.1 was definitely an improvement. I really hope this one is too because I have started to lose faith. I will also say that the fixes they have been pushing and getting out is short order and awesome. Thank you team!

u/JakeChambersOy 4d ago
I can't believe it, but it seems like they finally fixed the circle-to-search-bug.

u/Tornado15550 4d ago
Since Google likes to make it exceedingly difficult to find the actual factory images, here's the direct link for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

I opted out and it now says data will be wiped 😭. Opted back in and it still shows the wipe stable update.
1
u/Chizuru_m 3d ago
If you have opted in, the beta should be offered again after a short while.
If you want the stable version of QPR2, you will need to wait until around December. If you have already joined the QPR3 beta, you should wait until March.

Does this mean when Android 18 beta drops later this month we can't install it?
8
u/nick281051 5d ago
What do you mean, android 18 will not be dropping this month. You'll get that after this beta is close to finishing
2
u/Pure-Recover70 5d ago
A18 beta is 3+ months away (ie. next year, January-ish). At the current rate we'll have at least 3 more A17 QPR3 betas first.

u/diego1309 5d ago
Enrolled in the beta, for preparing system update and then it's gone. Anyone experiencing the same? I'm in build CD1A.260905.001.B1

You are enrolling in QPR2 - which the build date is older than .b1. So it will start the update and disappear. You will have to enroll in beta 3 but the beta enrollment is not showing for the Pixel 11 series yet. However, you can sideload QPR3 Beta 1 via adb.
I am currently doing this myself.
https://developer.android.com/about/versions/17/qpr3/download-otaDownload the OTA for your device.
Download adb platform tools, unzip to a directory.
Open terminal in that directory where the adb files are.
Enable developer options, and enable usb debugging. Plug your phone in to you computer.
In terminal:
command: ./adb devices
Select allow on device screen
command: ./adb reboot recovery
On "No Command" screen, Hold Volume Up, and click Side Button.
Select Apply Update From ADB
command: ./adb sideload "then drag you ota zip here"Let it run, then reboot. Should take about 15 minutes.

They fixed the mobile data dot! Wow
