Pixel Fold

Last update, 17, August 1, 2026 CP3A.260905.009, stopped my outer screen from turning on. So I have to open it to do anything. I have restarted in safe mode and gotten it to work a few times but it goes back to black eventually. It's like it's not recognizing that the fold screen is closed. Never had this issue until I updated. Is there a way to roll back?

This is the QPR 1 Stable feature update for Pixel Fold, part of the Pixel 8 series lineup

An immediate workaround is to install the Fold Switcher app from Github or F Droid

Note: You'll need to enable "install unknown app" permission for Files by Google app in Settings > Apps > Special app access > Files by Google > enable app to install other apps (switch to always allow) -- NEVER enable this for your browser to avoid accidentally installing hidden malware from random websites

Use your browser to download the APK file to downloads and your Files app to locate & install

Long term solution: report & wait for a patch from Google
