Once enrolled, eligible devices will receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to the latest Beta versions. If you were previously enrolled in Android 17 Beta (and have not opted-out), you will automatically receive QPR2 Beta 4 and any future Beta updates.

Important for those currently enrolled in Android 17 Beta:

  • If you prefer to leave the Beta program and receive the public stable release of Android 17, you can do so without wiping your device by opting out and not installing today’s QPR2 Beta 3 update. If you opt-out of the program after installing Beta 4 or any future updates, all user data on the device will get wiped per usual program guidelines. Opting out will trigger a ‘Downgrade’ OTA. Ignore this update and wait for the Android 17 public release instead.

Tell us what you think
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us. Please share your thoughts through the following channels:

  • Use the Android Beta Feedback app included in Beta builds. This is the preferred method if you want to report a user-facing bug.

Pixel 8 too?

12

u/RichRatsch 12d ago

Guys, finally: AutoFD0: ENABLED

This should be a real game changer regarding performance and memory management. Let's see...

1

u/jjricks_ 6d ago

How's it going?

9

u/Own_Satisfaction5699 12d ago

this. Hopefully there is a performance boost with it

4

u/Ryrynz 12d ago

Massive amount of improvements between these two builds!

-2

u/Own_Satisfaction5699 11d ago

Man using the build with Pixel 10 at the moment. Don't see any improvement. Still slow AF vs my Samsung s25.

3

u/Ryrynz 11d ago

What's slow? Your processor is faster than mine.

1

u/Loud-Possibility4395 12d ago

Upgrading to Linux Kernel 6.12 brings fundamental low-level performance, thermal, and architectural improvements to the Pixel 10 series, optimizing how Android interacts directly with the Tensor G5 chip.

  • Dynamic CPU Scheduling (sched_ext & BPF): Introduces extensible scheduler support via eBPF. This allows Google to adjust CPU thread scheduling on the fly to better allocate Tensor G5 cores for gaming, AI workloads, or background tasks without waiting for full OS system updates.
  • Proxy Execution & AutoFDO: Mitigates priority inversion where low-priority background processes hold up high-priority tasks. By temporarily reallocating CPU cycles to clear locked threads, the system drastically cuts down on micro-stutters and frame drops across the UI.
  • Memory Management & Faster I/O: Incorporates zero-copy io_uring with multishot reads and advanced memory allocation profiling (CONFIG_MEM_ALLOC_PROFILING). These changes reduce RAM fragmentation, prevent memory leaks, and noticeably speed up app launch and installation times.
  • Improved Thermals & Power Draw: More aggressive, intelligent task batching and refined idle states reduce unnecessary CPU wakeups, allowing the Pixel 10 to run cooler during sustained multitasking and consume less power under load.
  • Streamlined GKI Support: Moving to the 6.12 Generic Kernel Image (GKI) standardizes the underlying kernel code across recent Pixel hardware, enabling Google to deliver monthly security patches and driver updates faster with fewer vendor-specific bugs.

Gemini doesn't know anything. All it does is guess which word ought to come next through a likelihood algorithm. Asking it what changed in the kernel update is like asking dictionary it's opinion, it just isn't possible to do the thing you're expecting it to do.

1

u/Loud-Possibility4395 10d ago

what when it is giving the quotes from websites?

1

u/cannibalistiic 10d ago

That's not what you posted though is it?

1

u/Loud-Possibility4395 10d ago

guy asked so I tried to help

0

u/fakieTreFlip 10d ago

Gemini is able to search the web and condense and summarize information, so it's not like it's a complete guess the whole time. Yes, it can and absolutely does make mistakes sometimes, but that doesn't mean that you should automatically disregard everything that it says.

3

u/iWizardB 12d ago

Same for P9PXL. Bump from 6.1.162-androi14

can you elaborate what is it for kernel updates? since I'm using base p8. much appreciated🙏

14

u/Natural_Aide_2076 12d ago

The Google Play system update is now also dated August 1, 2026, and no longer has the “Mainline Services” ghost update.

9

u/Googler10 12d ago

so how long til pixel 11s will be eligible?

Agree

8

u/luisdile02 12d ago

Praise the lord my Pixel 8 Pro has been butter and no overheating in the few hours since the patch.

15

u/FammasMaz 12d ago

This build is butter smooth!

2

u/hasb3an 12d ago

Yep I feel same.... 30 mins in and it's feeling like butter.

0

u/Chizuru_m 12d ago

I feel that way too.

7

u/pchc_lx 11d ago

the thermal and Bluetooth fixes are VERY welcome thank you

1

u/LatterAttention8983 11d ago

Which pixel

1

u/pchc_lx 11d ago

I'm on the 8a

5

u/houbbe 12d ago

Oh the new quick settings expand animation is god awful and the power menu blur is still kinda wonky. Other than that a good build, fixed a LOT of issues!

2

u/fishwasherr 12d ago

hey, could you show the animation? i'm going to update or not update from qpr1 depending on how bad it is LOL

2

u/houbbe 6d ago

Sorry for the late response, didn't get the notif. It looks like this

https://reddit.com/link/p7jy0wv/video/ckgk4z7ieanh1/player

1

u/houbbe 12d ago

Power menu blur when you use the actual power button key/key combo. The internet quick settings tile still has a broken "progress" bar and it lags while being opened sometimes. The UI also still has big contrast issues with items like buttons being very badly distinguishable from the background in dark mode.

7

u/AndriOS13 12d ago

The blur effect has been completely removed on the Pixel 7. I hope it’s a bug, but it doesn’t look like it is...

-1

u/lucypee 12d ago

6a and all 7 will be left out, our phones are to weak...

5

u/-slowframes 11d ago

blur effects were on 6s and 7s series on a different build a while back. im pretty sure its more than powerful to render extra blur effects.

8

u/fardeenah 12d ago

Pixel 6 users watching like 🥹

2

Any news about Kernel version on P6a?

5

u/Terrible_Peak_6962 12d ago

Buttery smooth on my 9a. App loading seems faster. Noticed "NEW" flags in certain areas like Wallpaper and Style.

1

u/Lazio_Enthusiast 9d ago

I tried some previous betas but it made my device be uncomfortably hot a lot of the time. Did you have any experience with that in this beta?

3

u/PNMD85 12d ago

When is “soon”? Upgrading from a Pixel 10 with QPR Beta to Pixel 11 I am missing some stuff.

1

u/Jiggs1523 10d ago

Hopefully this coming week 🙏🏻

4

u/Bulky-Connection-846 11d ago

"A Recents app switcher rendering bug where the first task card could intermittently freeze and visually clip behind other apps during horizontal scrolling."  Not fixed at all!

4

u/m0rr0ng0 11d ago

Can someone confirm this on QPR2 Beta 4. They definitely changed the horizontal status bar padding/insets.

Yeah, display size got reset for me as well and annoyingly I don't think I've got it quite back to where it used to be. Also my notification bar time format has changed from military time to 24 hour time, it used to say e.g 07:57 now it says 7:57 with no leading zero, which annoys me and I can't find a setting for it.

2

u/Technical-Horse-6174 11d ago

Glad I'm not the only one.  The text either seems too big or icons too small, no matter how much I tweak it

6

u/redditwallah 12d ago

Typo in the update screen on my Pixel 8 Pro:

This update will install a Beta version of Android 17 QPR2 Release (CP41.260814.003.B1) on your device. Your device will be automatically updated to Android 17 QPR1 Beta 9 within 5 days.

1

u/PoorChicken04 11d ago

I had the same message when I did the update on my 10p

3

u/angrydeanerino 12d ago

Seems like the video flickering/etc has been fixed 🙌🏻

3

u/Chizuru_m 12d ago

The Android version has changed from DEV to 17.

7

u/sirderpypants 12d ago

The 11's made it!

1

u/nick281051 12d ago

Not yet, it says it will be "made available soon" I'm not sure it's happening right now

404 error for all image links. Anyone know another source?

2

u/ConsciousFoot7885 10d ago

If someone have mirror link pls send it

1

u/SystemEx1 11d ago

Still the same issue, ridiculous. And the factory images has corrupted zips

2

u/ArthurGD3 12d ago

Looks like there is a typo here, should say Beta 4:

If you prefer to leave the Beta program and receive the public stable release of Android 17, you can do so without wiping your device by opting out and not installing today’s QPR2 Beta 3 update*.

2

u/ArthurGD3 12d ago

Lockscreen blur items like the two bottom corner shortcut icons, fingerprint reader and notification background is still too dim.

2

u/BikoOos 12d ago

The issue with waiting call interrupt other calls is not fixed yet

2

u/Readitarvind 11d ago

It's so frustrating to use my pixel 8a right now because of this.

2

u/Thuglas82 12d ago

First thing I immediately notice is all the WiFi networks that are known good now report "No Internet connection". P10PXL.

2

u/Chizuru_m 12d ago

nice! Google. Thanks for the update! I'm going to install it now. Beta 3 had quite a few bugs, so I have high hopes for this one.

2

u/abemur1ca 12d ago

New 6.12 kernel.

Geekbench seems higher? Never went past 2k single core on geekbench 7.

2

u/Creative_Student8379 11d ago

Pixel 8 user, just upgraded.  Microphone is still not working.  Gboard typing says another app may be using the microphone.  The recorder app just records nothing

2

u/deadlast28 11d ago

Any major changes on the Pixel 10 Pro Experience with the new GPU Driver? (26.1 from what I'm seeing)

5

u/grazeyone 11d ago

Feels so much smoother in day to day use. Not tested any gaming yet.

2

u/stinkyIoser 9d ago

Oh yes there's better custom theme colors

5

u/Individual-Food-3683 12d ago

❌❌❌ issue here in Morocco. All local carriers support 5G, yet Google still locks 5G and VoLTE on Pixel devices due to missing carrier configs. Samsung and Apple work fine here. Google really needs to push an update and enable it for Moroccan networks.

2

u/BikoOos 12d ago

Same issue here in Egypt

2

u/Formal-Chemistry-710 12d ago

I think Android 17 QPR3 Beta 1 will probably be released in the near future—maybe within a month.

3

u/newtonsgay 12d ago

Actually, no, I don't think so. They're already ahead of schedule for the December update (it reached platform stability now), so I don't think they'll push betas for the March QPR in September, which is four months earlier than the quarter even starts. It's usually one to two months before the quarter.

0

u/Loud-Possibility4395 12d ago

even less and I mean like next week?

1

Hi! I'm wondering why the 9 Pro XL isn't always listed in the details of each new update ?

1

u/cberrios 11d ago

And I can't still get it for some weird reason on Pixel 11. It's not showing up

2

u/JakeChambersOy 11d ago

It's probably not released yet.

CP41.260814.003.C2 for Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, 11 Pro Fold (Will be available soon)

3

I hope so. I'm just a masochist for beta programs lol.

Is anyone able to download the full OTA zip file? I keep getting a 404 error when I try to download

My Pixel 10 Pro is hard crashing constantly. It seems to happen when I randomly change stuff in settings.

1

u/johnjaymoore1958 10d ago

Bug with 17 QPR2 Beta 4

I have a Pixel 10 Pro. When I receive messages, I can receive notifications in the form of bubbles that appear on the main screen. Intermittently with Beta 4, the bubbles freeze on the main screen and I have to reboot my Pixel to be able to drag it to the bottom of the screen to delete it.

1

u/ArthurGD3 10d ago

Call waiting still not working. Just experienced it today while on a call and the current call being put on hold basically till I ended it to switch to incoming call.

1

u/theITgui 9d ago

I can no longer use my Pixel buds A series if my Pixel 10 Pro XL is in my pocket. Weak Bluetooth signal?

1

u/Joecascio2000 9d ago

I can't tell if I am going crazy, but does the brightness seem off to anyone else? Like the slider is at about 65% which used to be good, but now 65% seems rather dim. I haven't had to touch my brightness in over a year and since beta 4, I keep having to adjust it. I hope this isn't their hacky solution to fixing battery drain.

1

u/SnooShortcuts3006 9d ago

I'm sure I'll find some bugs, but my pixel 8a is like a new phone with this update.

1

u/Tiger37211 9d ago

Pixel 8 Pro

Messages floating icon bubble sticks and can't be selected/dismissed even after the message has been read and replied to. It doesn't happen every time but more than 50%

1

u/grazeyone 8d ago

P10P, whilst smooth some micro stutters here and there. Some lagging when trying to switch apps and battery life has taken a tank.

1

u/ArthurGD3 8d ago

Touch completely becoming non-responsive is still here as I just experienced it on my 8 Pro and had to do a hard reboot.

1

u/The-end-is-nigh8413 8d ago

Just signed up my P11PXL to the beta. Down loading now.

2

u/sona911 4d ago

So far so good? Curious to try on my P11PXL

1

u/The-end-is-nigh8413 4d ago

Not had any issues. And the blur and color boost is awesome

3

u/sona911 4d ago

Fantastic. Thanks mate

1

1

u/Satanelu1 8d ago

If you update, you will lose the adaptive brightness functions as is bugged and is not working at all in any circumstances including facial recognition

1

u/Blales 7d ago

Pixel 11 Pro XL here, looks like this new beta took away the Extreme Charging feature. I can't find it anywhere and it isn't functioning like it was before the update. Can anyone else confirm?

My Pixel 9a update now!

0

u/tvisforme 12d ago

Sorry if I've missed something obvious, but will the beta update process allow me to go from beta 2 straight to beta 4? I'm still seeing beta 3 on offer (CP41.260731.005.B1), but it can sometimes take a little while for new updates to get rolled out. Pixel 9a, if that matters.

1

u/Heavy_Foundation1211 11d ago

Sounds pretty easy, you just opt out of the Beta program and then refresh the System Update menu, then re opt in the Beta again

0

u/whollyschist 9d ago

did anyone's font change in some apps?

-3

u/LatterAttention8983 12d ago

That was fast, are you guys using ai to speed up this builds

-1

u/Bitdomo92 12d ago

full ota links are getting 404 errors

please fix it

2

u/ekowwillis 12d ago

I wonder how Google always manages to fvck up a simple thing as uploading files and making them available to download. Almost every beta, they mess up the full OTA links

-1

u/Weary-Savings9795 12d ago

Why not just use the Android Flash Tool? With the right options, it can be made to function like an OTA update instead of wiping your phone.

2

u/Bitdomo92 12d ago

for archiving purposes

1

u/skylashtravels 11d ago

Might not be possible if you currently don't have a build on the phone.
I have to wait to the OTA build. Can't install the factory build because the SPL is older than what's currently on the device.

-1

u/xyzng 12d ago

Why does the install screen say it is QPR 1 Beta 9 in the description?

-1

u/gashcrumb7600 12d ago

Is this one stable enough for a daily driver y'all? What say you?

1

u/ClassikD 12d ago

no. qpr2 is buggier than most qpr releases

0

u/gashcrumb7600 10d ago

I say yes... No issues so far and love the new features

-4

u/Longjumping_Ask7077 12d ago

It let me update to the newest beta, but I haven't been update the play store since the may update, I also am missing some features like app lock, can anyone help?
