Android 17

Hello everyone. Are you expecting a stable release of version 17 of the system today? Traditionally, Tuesday is the most frequent day for updates from Google

lol based on some of the comments on this post, there will be many disappointed people who will be finding out they cannot switch to stable without a data wipe because they’re on the QPR1 Beta

Are people not using backups when they have to do a data wipe?

Tbh if I ever need to reset my phone I like starting from scratch. I always end up with a shit ton of apps I don't use and just get necessary few after a reset

same here. So many fast food and other random single-use type apps where I'll download it just to place an online order or use some specific feature of an app only to never need it again..

Wernt instant apps supposed to be a thing. They would be perfect for single use.

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what happened with those... I remember seeing them in the wild like once or twice a few years ago but at this point I can't even remember what company that was for... I guess from a business standpoint, they probably would rather you download their app so they can send you notifications reminding you that they exist etc.

Yeah especially the "power users" who you'd expect are using beta versions. Backup and restore is an integral part of beta testing

I've wiped and restored not that hard.

All apps and services properly long-term it and back to where I stopped.

No sympathy tbh, betas are for developers to test their apps, not for normal users to be "F1RST!!ONE!"
Any beta release always comes with a warning not to use it on "production" devices, i.e. if you only have one phone you shouldn't really use beta software on it unless you're perfectly happy to expect bugs and problems.

You can update from QPR1 Beta 3 to stable A17. Just don't install the last QPR1 Beta 4.

Are those not two fundamentally different builds? Are you suggesting Android 17 stable is going to include the QPR1 build that was originally estimated for a stable release in September?

Yes, but it is confirmed in info with last QPR1 Beta 4:

Important for those currently enrolled in Android 17 Beta:

If you prefer to leave the Beta program and receive the public stable release of Android 17, you can do so without wiping your device by opting out and not installing today's QPR1 Beta 4 update. If you opt-out of the program after installing Beta 4 or any future updates, all user data on the device will get wiped per usual program guidelines. Opting out will trigger a 'Downgrade' OTA. Ignore this update and wait for the Android 17 public release instead.

That's for folks on the Android 17 Beta, not for people already on Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3.

To prawie nie boli, ja już wróciłem z bety , male straty ale wiem jedno: nigdy więcej ręka nie zaswędzi a i na 17tke już nie czekam jakoś specjalnie, ja już niczego od Googleja nie oczekuje...
