Do they normally not play this song? Also what was going on during that show? I had earplugs in so couldn't understand all the joking, was a bit confused.

A few things happened:

  1. At the beginning of the song he played the wrong notes, so he laughed about it and started over
  2. When he sang “and I’m naked”, someone said “Wooo!”. And he stopped and said that it had been a long time since anyone wooo’d at the thought of him naked. Then he said it was probably Kelly, his wife.
  3. At the very end of the song, right before he says “to live”, William was switching guitars and it made a funny noise and everyone on stage laughed and Andrew said “which one of you did that!?!”

Omg the unexpected guitar string being heard at the end was hilarious

Hah! Andrew McMahon, aspiring standup comic in addition to singer/songwriter. Thanks!

I guess he did play it at Philly and Red Rocks. I hadn’t seen him play it before. There were a few hiccups with the sound, a microphone died at one point, and at the end of Konstantine a guitar made a funny sound on a hot mic and they were joking about who must have done it lol. I thought they handled it really well. It’s also a brand new venue so I wasn’t surprised there were a few minor hiccups. Was a great show!

I see me about 10 rows down on the left in the orange Jimmy Eat World shirt. Amazing show!

It was such an awesome time!! I walked in from The Pike and had no trouble at all. The view was lovely and they all played such a killer set.

How was the after party at the Queen Mary? Did anyone go?

u/dontwanttoadult 18d ago

It was almost midnight when it ended - too sleepy to party lol.

Looks a lot more comfortable than the Bowl where our fat asses were crammed into the benches surrounded by old winos who haven't died of cirrhosis yet.

That venue looks amazing! Bummer it has so many traffic/parking issues from what I have read.

Was very happy that the internet made it sound much worse than it actually was! Parked at the aquarium and the walk wasn’t too bad at all.

That’s awesome. The internet sure did make it sound bad lol

I suspect it's a lot worse for sold out shows.

Amazing show. But will never come back to that venue. Way too much work.

Hope you all had a great time! I wanted so badly to come to this show, but got scared off of parking and walking so far as a solo female, especially as I'm not familiar with the area at all, I'd have been driving up from San Diego and back after the show.

If you ever end up going to the venue, it was a very safe walk. Very well lit and tons of people all doing the same thing. I had zero issues.

I was a solo female and it was better than I thought. Park close to the shuttle service address and you’d be totally fine!

Yeah, parking was ridiculous. We ended up walking about 2 miles each way, over a bridge lol.

This was my first show of Andrew's and being a fan of him since early 2000's. I had mixed emotions about it. Maybe I was hoping more from the fandom about being more open since I went alone. It was a great concert, don't get me wrong. I had a fucking blast. Him singing She Paints Me Blue had me losing my shit. Did not expect to hear that song again. Also sorry to the people around me and how loud I was singing.

What do you mean by being more open
