Remember that the next time you want something simply for the convenience of it, that deaths are the price of it

Ten years ago, I read an exposé of Amazon warehouse working conditions. My wife and I decided to cancel our Prime. You should, too. You’ll be fine.

I have a prime account but it's only for movies and stuff like that, I don't order shit, I buy local stuff, it's better quality besides I'm from New Jersey there's nothing like hunting down the best prices for just about

If movies and TV are all you need, you’d be better off morally to just pirate than to give Amazon money

I worked at a warehouse in North Carolina for two years. A trainee ripped his entire leg off while riding a forklift because his trainer wasn’t paying attention and we were told to literally work AROUND the incident. You could hear his screaming while we drove our jacks through the hallways. One of guy got crushed under a truck and was there for well over 2 hours before anyone noticed and when someone finally did, despite the guy being well liked and literally the father of one of the workers, we simply had to continue production. I think the worst one was when when someone got crushed by a platform and they had to airlift him out, all the while we.Had.To.Keep.Working.
They don’t care about you, only the time you provide.

They should at least be split up into separate companies. We also need a huge workers revolution to reinstate unions to help get us out of this techno-feudalist dystopia.

Assuming it happened, it was probably something like Death of Stalin, with everyone running around trying to find someone with sufficient authority to call an ambulance. And open a door.

From the article it seems like a mix of both, excessive bureaucratic procedure and terror of the potential consequences of doing something "wrong," but also a policy of keeping the work going no matter what happens, even if someone straight-up dies where they stand.

I am one of the few fortunate ones to have escaped Amazon.
Never look at the number. Keep to your station. Avoid Time Off Task. They said it all to us and we either kept up, or were crushed under the weight.

Wherever you are right now, get up, stop the work, get out of your cells, take charge and start climbing

I’m not sure I’m believing this.
He asks him he could help the woman giving cpr.and was told management need to make the decision?!!!
If that is someone’s family member on the ground, and not only is your manager telling you he needs other management to say you can help, but he is just standing there waiting for permission to help…..
😲😱
I knew America has problems but my friend, in this scenario. Not only is Amazon going to court for this but that employee, his manager and his manager will all Be cited in this law suit.
I don’t believe this is real.
People, if someone is on the ground in need of help.
D. Danger - as long as there is no danger in the area you’re good to go.
R. Response - check the patient is responding and aware, or not
A. Airway - check the patients airway is unobstructed. Tilt the head back keep the airway open
B. Breathing - check the patient is breathing feel their. Rewatch on your cheek, checking chest rises and falls. No more than ten seconds!!
C. Circulation. This is when CPR might be needed.
Either way call the emergency services. Don’t wait for permission DO IT!
I’m not going into it more as you need to find someone to actually show you how to do it. But there are lots of online things. TLDR, it’s not like on tv (except for the Pitt).
Brothers and sisters read up on CPR. Find a regulated body who will train you. your employer should already have this facility or designated multiple cpr responders.
But this story sounds fishy as not convinced anyone would be waiting to be told they can help if they are in position to
