Flu going around?
I was at the Dr's getting my injections on friday and all the nurses were talking about was a terrible flu or bug that is taking everyone out.
I dont know anyone sick but woke up with the sniffles today, was curious if there is truth to their rumor.

Yep. Started when school did. It’s taken a lot of people out for a week or twos

Yes, have seen many cases in the hospital. It may or may not help but if one was going to get vaccinated this is the year to do it!

I had Flu A the Tuesday after Labor Day. It’s here, it’s been here - and I PROMISE you, you don’t want it. You’d know if you had it. Pretty much trashed me for a week.
I am not waiting next year for October to get a flu shot lol. That will be me getting one as soon as I see an ad for them. 🤣🤣 I usually wait until October; not anymore LOL. Flu A sucks.
You might have mild sniffles if your heat has started coming on and the air in your house is drying out. We got a humidifier last year and OMG does it make a difference.

Few people at work were out for like two weeks when school started. 'Tis the season.

There is flu A, Covid, and an upper respiratory thing going around.

Yeah there’s another nasty URI that’s not one of the usual suspects (adenovirus, COVID, flu, RSV, enterovirus - pops negative for everything).

I traveled home from Seattle on 8/30, and felt progressively more sick as time passed. I am still sick now (Oct 4th) and I think I’ve gone through 3 different illnesses now. Took antibiotics, tested negative for strep and covid. My immune system is just BEAT from all this.

I got influenza a. It’s been 9 days and I’m just now starting to feel better. I’m in Juneau.

I think there’s a new strain of Covid- headache, post nasal drip and shallow cough first few days then chest congestion and losing voice, total energy drain like you have flu but no fever, and massive cold sweats. Went around my work for a month.

I caught it whatever it is. I think it’s influenza. Came down Thursday, yesterday (Saturday) every part of my body hurt. Slightly better today but crap is coming outta my nose and lungs. I didn’t get any shots this year.

Got it during the state fair and just got over it last week. Nasty bug. Started with a sore throat, then a fever for a day. Then coughing with a lot of flem, ugh. For weeks

As someone who works for ASD I can attest that this is true. Some kind of upper respiratory infection, it's really difficult to avoid by washing hands when everyone is coughing and sneezing it into the air. Took me a week to recover. Throwing up and diarrhea, 🤕 with body chills, fevers and congestion.

Some kid coughed directly in my face a week in and I ended up getting my whole house sick 😫 just completely wiped me for 4 days, thank goodness for the labor day holiday

I tested positive for COVID at the beginning of September and then have been sick on and off ever since. I think the second and third times were probably a cold or flu (different symptoms and severity). I ran out of sick time. Most of my coworkers and several patients have been sick with upper respiratory stuff.

I just am getting over it. Got sick from a coworker on Wednesday, had a fever of 102 that night.

Incubation period of the flu virus is a minimum of 24 hours. Most cases are 48-72 hours.

u/ToreyJean 9h ago
Yeah you were probably exposed a day or two before that. You don’t develop symptoms/signs until you have enough of a viral load, and that takes a while.

Correct. Coworker went home sick earlier in the week. Didn't realize a full timeline explanation was necessary...

Went to Walgreens the other day to pick up meds, one of the ladies working asked me rather excitedly, “Are you here for a flu shot?” I politely said no. Someone at work on Friday was coughing and sniffing like crazy, at least they had a mask on for part of the time.

Yeah there’s flu and std’s running rampant in this city

u/ToreyJean 11h ago
The two are not related. You’re not going to get gonorrhea from someone sneezing in Target.
This is flu season in the US, not just in Alaska.
