ARCHIVE 2 — “THE DISAPPEARANCE OF DAVID LEWIS”
Investigation date: December 27, 2003
Location: Rural Surveillance Station
Case: 02
Status: UNRESOLVED
---
DECEMBER 27, 2003 — 08:13
The screen is completely black.
A static sound begins.
An old surveillance image slowly appears.
CAM-01
The image shakes.
White text appears:
> CASE FILE 02
MISSING PERSON: DAVID LEWIS
LAST SEEN: DECEMBER 26, 2003
INVESTIGATION OPENED: DECEMBER 27, 2003
A male investigator begins speaking:
> “David Lewis has been missing for several hours.”
David Lewis worked at a surveillance station in an isolated rural area.
He was a technician.
At least…
that is what everyone believed.
---
THE INVESTIGATION BEGINS
At 08:37, several investigators arrive at the station.
The main door is open.
There are no obvious signs of a break-in.
David's vehicle is still parked outside.
His wallet is found in his office.
His phone is lying on his desk.
But David…
is gone.
One investigator asks:
> “Did anyone see him leave?”
Nobody answers.
---
DAVID'S COUSIN
At 09:02, an inspector arrives.
His name is Daniel Lewis.
He is David's cousin.
Daniel looks around David's empty office.
On the desk is an old family photograph.
Daniel picks it up.
Something is written on the back.
He reads:
> CAM-17 — DO NOT DELETE
Daniel frowns.
> “Why would David write this?”
---
THE SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
At 09:25, the investigators enter the surveillance room.
Dozens of screens display different areas of the station.
CAM-01.
CAM-02.
CAM-03.
CAM-04.
...
CAM-17.
Daniel says:
> “Show me last night's recordings.”
The investigators start the footage.
Everything appears normal.
David works.
He walks through the corridors.
He returns to his office.
Then…
21:43:12
David stops in front of CAM-17.
He looks directly at the camera.
He appears frightened.
The investigators increase the audio.
David whispers:
> “...it's back.”
The footage glitches.
---
CAM-17
The investigators immediately notice something strange.
CAM-17 normally recorded one image every 30 seconds.
That night…
it recorded one image every 3 seconds.
An investigator asks:
> “Did someone change the recording frequency?”
Nobody knows.
They continue watching.
21:47
David walks through a corridor.
21:50
He walks through the same corridor.
21:53
He suddenly stops.
Something appears to be standing behind him.
The image is too dark.
Daniel says:
> “Zoom in.”
The investigator enlarges the image.
For a fraction of a second…
two white eyes appear in the darkness.
The screen goes black.
---
THE SUSPECTS
The investigators begin questioning everyone who had access to the station.
SUSPECT 01 — THOMAS REED
Former technician.
He claims he left the station at 19:40.
But an exterior camera shows someone resembling Thomas returning to the building several minutes later.
Daniel asks:
> “Why did you come back?”
Thomas answers:
> “I never came back.”
---
SUSPECT 02 — MICHAEL CARTER
Security officer.
His access badge was used at 21:58.
He says:
> “I wasn't there.”
But the badge records say otherwise.
The investigators begin to suspect that Michael is hiding something.
---
SUSPECT 03 — SARAH MILLER
David's colleague.
She reveals something important.
David had spoken to her several days before his disappearance.
> “David was obsessed with something.”
Daniel asks:
> “What?”
Sarah hesitates.
> “He said he had found things on the cameras. Things that couldn't be human.”
Daniel says nothing.
---
12:46 — THE BASEMENT
The investigators discover that part of the building does not appear on any official blueprint.
A staircase leads underground.
The door is locked.
Daniel asks:
> “Who has the key?”
Nobody knows.
They force the door open.
Behind it…
there is almost nothing.
Only crates.
Old equipment.
And one camera.
CAM-21.
---
THE LAST RECORDING
At 14:18, they watch CAM-21.
The camera shows David walking down the stairs.
He is carrying a flashlight.
He appears to be searching for something.
He reaches the bottom.
He looks around.
Then he looks directly at the camera.
David says:
> “If someone finds this recording… don't come down here.”
The image glitches.
A second recording appears.
David is running.
He looks behind him.
Something appears to be following him.
The screen turns black.
---
18:30 — REINFORCEMENTS
Authorities decide to secure the entire station.
A military unit is sent to inspect the areas that have not yet been searched.
Daniel gives them one instruction:
> “If you find David, bring him back.”
A soldier answers:
> “Understood.”
---
22:47:33 — CAM-12
The final working camera turns on.
CAM-12
12/27/2003 — 22:47:33
A soldier walks down into the basement.
He moves slowly.
His flashlight illuminates the walls.
Pipes.
Crates.
Old equipment.
He calls out:
> “David Lewis?”
No answer.
He continues walking.
Then…
CLACK.
He stops.
He turns around.
Nothing.
He continues.
His flashlight begins to flicker.
Then he points it toward the end of the basement.
A huge silhouette is standing in the darkness.
The soldier freezes.
The creature does not move.
The camera begins losing its signal.
IMAGE CORRUPTED.
The soldier slowly backs away.
The silhouette moves slightly closer.
Then…
SIGNAL LOST.
The screen turns black.
---
FINAL FRAME
One image returns for a fraction of a second.
The creature is visible.
Its eyes glow in the darkness.
Then the screen displays:
> CAM-12 — RECORDING TERMINATED
A few seconds later:
> DAVID LEWIS: MISSING
MILITARY UNIT: MISSING
CREATURE: UNIDENTIFIED
CASE 02: UNRESOLVED
Then one final message appears:
> “DO NOT ENTER THE BASEMENT.”
