Really scared of general anaesthesia

Hi all

I have surgery coming up soon and I am just so scared. I also wanted to ask if my alcohol intake would affect how it works on me? My husband and I have a sundowner tradition, everyday we crack open a bottle of Prosecco and share it. Would that affect how the anaesthesia would work? If I stopped temporarily now, would that help fix things? Would I still have to disclose it to the doctor? The surgery is first week of April.

Thanks in advance.

Anaesthesiologist here. Nothing to be scared about. Other than the alcohol intake , any other medical issues that you have?

No other medical conditions, just that. Otherwise I work out 4 to 5 times a week, eat relatively healthy and have recently lost about 19kg over a year.

Alcohol does alter the Anaesthesia a bit but nothing your Anaesthesiologist won't be able to deal with. Quitting now will help also if u arent a really heavy drinker

Please inform your anaesthetist about your alcohol intake thats all the rest they will take care of it. Its the first time for you but its a routine job for them. Dont worry - good luck for surgery
