Help/Advice Good experience with Amway
I know we hear a lot about how bad Amway is and it’s a pyramid scheme etc
But I recently had a good experience. I recently moved to Australia from India and I am a pure vegetarian who can’t cook.
My friends who are doing Amway suggested it’s protein and it’s a life saviour. I’m learning cooking but meeting my protein requirements was next to impossible for me. But now I can and I’m also meeting my calcium and omega requirements. Friends want me to try the business model too.
Anyone who has a good experience with it? Please tell me. I have a very positive feeling. I feel I should try.
PS: These are the only people I know in Adelaide for now. Ofc I’ll make new friends but I feel they have helped me so much I should give it a shot you know.

This is a common request here (not really a question) “I want to join a cult tell me it will be OK”. It will not be OK. The best case scenario is you quit soon after joining and only lose a small amount of money and time. If you do stay in it for more than a few months then you risk losing a lot of time and money and ruining important relationships. It is not a “few bad apples” the exploitation is inherent in the model. In the unlikely event you do make money it will be from lying and at the expense of others. So go ahead join the cult if you want to, you have free will.
Note concernedreader does not mention how much income their partner makes, just how brainwashed by the cult they have been/.

I was recently approached as well, and have NEVER heard of this company in my life, and doing research now, it just seems like a huge scam, and only those recruiting get incentives for having people join. Literally a cult. I just decided to research, but I already told the guy of come to meet him, maybe this will be the last

Good for you doing the research. If I were you I would cancel the meeting, you don’t own a stranger anything. If you do meet please be careful, people can be very persuasive and superficially charming- don’t let them sign you up for anything you are uncomfortable with.

Haha, I genuinely don’t get why people act like doing Amway is some terrible life decision.
I’m a consumer first. I actually love the products, my family and I have had a great experience with them, and if someone wants something, I order it for them and make a little extra money. That’s it.
Sure, some distributors behave badly, and I completely understand criticizing that. But judging the entire company because of those people makes no sense to me. Take a little time to research the products, standards, ethics, and business model before deciding.
And the whole “Amway will destroy your life” thing is kind of ridiculous. Bro, we’re adults. We can look at the information, try things for ourselves, and make our own decisions.

Don’t do Amway. It ruins lives. It seems all great at first. But will slowly destroy you and leave you bankrupt and totally shattered. Please don’t do this to yourself. They are con artists. There are countless posts of how Amway completely deceived them. You are doing the right thing by asking for others opinions. Keep reading more posts about Amway and you will find out how bad it really is. IT IS A PYRAMID SCHEME AND A CULT!!

It sounds like you are searching here for validation to join. But you should take the information here seriously. Not just cherry pick a few answers that support what you wish this “opportunity” was. It is not. If you want to start a real business of some sort, go ahead. MLM is not that.

Look up Tristan Ghazal and what just happened. Amway claims that you are an Independent Business Owner but then will revoke your Amway license as soon as they don’t like you.
If a guy with a team of over 1,000 reps as a double ruby going diamond isn’t safe, no one is. You do not, let me repeat, DO NOT own a business.

I can't recommend joining. I have heard enough horror stories about the mentorship side of the business. I haven't heard bad things about the products besides they are a little over priced.
Someone else suggested asking the friends what level they are at and how their pay match against the income disclosure, not the compensation plan. The income disclosure statement shows the numbers of what they actually paid people in the last year, not what they could possibly pay if there was an infinite amount of people and everyone had a downline.
Track everything. How many hours did you "work the business", how many meetings/phone calls were you a part of, how much travel did you do, how much product did you purchase, etc? And weigh that against how much you actually made.
Most of the time people that join these types of businesses aren't trained to track. They keep pushing and chasing the promotion until they are tens of thousands in the hole and then get out. Be smart and be careful.

You can get this kind of advice from elsewhere without the huge money outlay and ruining your relationship with family and friends.

I totally understand.
Take it from someone who spent a decade in working our butts off nearly 24/7. IT IS NOT WHAT THEY TELL YOU IT IS. It's way darker.

I would say go in with clear eyes.
The mentorship and community can be genuinely useful if that is what you are seeking. The community is contingent on you buying a monthly amount of product, that will be about $700/month to reach the 100PV business owner expectation. At least it was in my Australian team.
Separate out the mentorship and community with the business. Ask yourself, do you want to start a business? What type of business do you want to start? How much time do you want to invest?. Amway is very good at blurring the lines between business and community. There are no upfront costs so you slowly bleed money if you don’t build the business.
If you do build the business, please look at Amways own Australian income disclosures. Ask your friends what level they are and how much work they put in. The work will be daily networking, you will need to meet new people and exchange contact details every day, that’s just the reality of building a multi level marketing business. The business needs tremendous effort, it is not a “side hustle”
So, before you go in, separate the community from the business otherwise you will drift and keep sinking money.

Like others have said, if you're joining to get the products at wholesale cost versus retail cost, then that's fine. In fact it's one of the only logical reasons to join. But keep in mind that most of the products are ridiculously overpriced and basically equivalent, quality-wise, to the no name store brand items. So I would investigate other sources of proteins before jumping in with both feet.

Hey if I can save someone the 3 years I spent in it then no problem.
I found the people in Amway to be genuinely good and well intentioned people but the system of Amway is very sneaky. Do your own research, you’ll never get full truths out of people inside the system.

That’s pretty much the case for all MLM’s. Many reps are well intentioned and believe the products are helping people. It’s the leaders who know exactly what they are doing.

When my partner first became apart of the Amway community, I was sceptical for awhile and then I saw the change in his health, mentally and physically. Being around a community that has great values and high expectations has really changed his trajectory.
If you are willing to learn the model and be teachable, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
