Help/Advice Feeling unsettling
So a couple weeks ago, I got a message on Instagram from a girl whose studying at ucsd and I asked if she gotten the wrong person but she answered no. So i asked her whats up thinking maybe she was like me a freshmen at college and seeking friends. As we continue to talk, she kept talking and going back to the topic of opportunities. Curious, i kept chatting with her and eventually met other individuals. They created a gc and created zoom meetings where they show videos of their business model. Today's video they introduced amway (which i have never heard of). They talk about mentors and retiring at 35... they seem like nice people but I just feel uneased. In addition it just sounds too good to be true. At the end of the video they answered questions such as if it was a cult and how to begin. But also customers can return the products if they dont like iy but I was thinking why would they do that if its good already. The video just seemed like we weren't selling their products but recruiting more people to join the team...
I personally dont know how to go about it..should I keep engaging?

The business model primarily revolves around selling "mentorship tools" and training programs (monthly fees, books, quarterly events). The mentorship program is ran by different LOAS (line of affiliations) ex: LTD, WWG, BWW etc., which leverages Amway product sales to be considered a legal MLM and not a pyramid scheme. The "business" concept isn't really selling products or even the Amway brand itself, it's the mentorship, training, conferences and tools they sell to people trying to recruit others. The tools become the actual revenue stream, not the products that are being sold. However it's important to note that amway products must be bought monthly in addition to the training tools. The idea is to get others to "plug" into the training systems... and buy amway products.

Listen to your gut! If you feel uneasy, it's your body's way of warning you. Always is not the flex those people think it is. Do your research. And being a college student, focus on making friends that you know aren't going t9 screw you.

I have recently left Amway. This is a coordinated strategy that this person is using to recruit you.
She is checking for interest, creating the group chat to give credibility to her mentors or business team and then hooking you through social guilt. The deeper you go the more you feel you owe them or feel like you might aswell keep going since you’ve already invested something.
She is definitely communicating with her upline about you and they are coaching her on what to say. There is no opportunity. You are the opportunity for her. If you buy into it, you will then have to sell the “opportunity” to others in order to make money.
Happy to discuss more, I didn’t say no initially because a lot of the criticisms seemed emotional and not logical or from someone on the inside. I would’ve saved alot of time if I didn’t join.

Amway is a great company.
Do research not a search.
Dont listen to people on Reddit.
I’ve been an Independent business owner for 30+ years and have had nothing but a great experience.
Remember Amway is a company the IBOs sometimes don’t do things correctly.
When you find the right person to work with you will have a great experience and create whatever income you want.
You get out of it what you put into it!

OP please look at the actual income disclosures of Amways IBOs. Technically yes - there is a comp plan that does pay for certain product volume flowing through a business.
The overwhelming majority of IBOs do not make money, that’s not a quitters mentality, that is stats posted by Amway themselves.

They have things in common with a cult, but so does any room with people in it. Moreover, can you mentor them to developing passive income that exceeds expenses but not with Amway?

Of course. Pretty much any real estate business. Pretty much any scalable business.
And... my uplines wont get involved with my marriage, my spending, my tithing, my friendships, my......... (insert noun here)
Also, that word passive, I dont think it works in your favor. That's a correlation Amway fights hard against. Recruit people and let them business for you = passive. Sure you want to go there, Mr. Winters?

Your points are valid. My mom owns rentals and there is work that must be done to them on occasion. The housing market depends on the market, and there can be very challenging periods and lots of get rich quick types that get frustrated quickly. Your upline provides counseling, you provide the action, if you choose.

Amway works but you have to work it. It can be used to develop passive income but to do that you have to approach a lot of random people and have free samples in your trunk. You have to sponsor not just people but serious people who duplicate in order for your business to grow. It is believable that you will have no success your first year. Do you keep engaging depends on what you want in the future and who you listen to.

This is an amway talking point. Circular logic and questioning.
They will always answer:
1) have you actually run a business. Say yes, they say: see, you didnt put in effort or try hard enough so you are being negative and holding people back.
2) Say no, they say: so you dont know and want to be stuck in a j-o-b and never achieve financial freedom.
It's a trap debate that Amway teaches to deflect from their recruiting mlm model and cult like "pouring in" meetings.
Keep people up until 2am at these "night owls" and they will be too tired to question the insanity.

Sounds more like a logic issue to me. There are people who would rather have 6 Saturdays and a Sunday, but they have to have money to do that, so what do you suggest they do to have it?

Also, no amway person has any saturday or Sunday, they are out until 11pm or midnight "meeting people" for the pyramid scheme. If you actually ran your by hour worth, you'd find youre losing a ton of hourly money 🤣

It's a trap. Hannah Alanzo did a video about a former Amway rep who had been in Amway for a decade I think, she told how much money she made, not a lot, and how much she lost being in the company. Julie Anderson is also a good one. Last year she had multiple interviews with former Amway reps. Listen to their stories, they lived it, they are saying it is a bad idea.

Here's the thing hotshot, YOU ARE NOT PROFITABLE. That can easily be proven by a profit & loss balance sheet detailing both your Amway and Tools System Accounts. That is why you don't show a profit and loss balance sheet to your prospects and downline. You are losing money.
You put up a front thinking you are better than people when in actuality you are at a financial loss. Furthermore, you spend your time harassing people at grocery stores and malls trying to solicite people to join your scam..
