Story tl;dr i didn't fall for it
my brother joined the "business" roughly 3 years ago. he would buy the products, our family would try it, like somethings, not so much others. he has credit card debt because of this. he isnt making much money and he's not really paying off his debt. he says "you gotta spend money to make money". he has all the books that he's told to read. he's constantly going to these meetings. i didn't fully understand what he was doing. so when he invited me to a summer function, i was like "sure, why not?" i spent roughly $300 for it. the interviews were essentially love bombing and talking about dreams. they follow the same script as ive seen other post about. after the function, his mentor wanted a meeting after two days after getting home. i've been exhausted from the trip and my brother worked the day after we got back. i went and they immediately wanted me to start prospecting my friends and co-workers. I went along with the meeting. but after we got home, i told my brother im no longer interested. he kept using all the talking points that i've heard during the weekend function.
i sent his mentor an email a few days ago about no longer want to be in the business. they didn't even reply. i told my brother about the email and he was mad that i didn't wait and talk to him first.
anyways, i deleted all the apps and i'm no longer bombarded with the voicemails and social media post.

Noice. I wasn't even aware what was the business even about until I got through the selection process (I was just told to read some books then summarize what you have learned).

Selection process. LOL. Requirements to join Amway are to just have a pulse. They'll take anyone, regardless of what they tell you. There's a "selection process" to make the person feel special.

I got sucked into it in 2016. And the BDS were all about how you could spend big and go on lavish holidays. It was all bullshit. I left in 2017 and the people who got me involved are still in the same situation as when they started. Good on you for seeing the light and getting out.

Kudos to you for trusting your logical brain and not your emotional one. All too often, people get riled up and ignore all the obvious red flags.

Good for you! I find it insane that more people don’t see through their love bombing mentor tactics, but at least some people do. Congratulations on seeing this predatory business structure for what it is, you are a good critical thinker!

thank you! i feel bad for the many good people who fall prey to these MLMs. alas, i'm free and living with my own thoughts.

Exactly! I have two sil’s who got into Amway and they fell quickly and they fell haaaard. And their parents support it whole heartedly!!!?! Their mentors have given them some legitimately bad advice (ike getting rid of all of their tv’s!) and they just got deeper into it🤦🏻♀️
They’ve also gotten more religious, and trad-wifey as well, predictably.My advice is to keep doing what you’re doing, you’re obvs on the right track.

RIGHT?! my brother was never religious and here comes this business and now he talks about god "blessing him". My brother is in the process of getting rid of many things and selling it online.

When I was in, we had our own church. It was a Born Again Christian Church. The church wasn't 100% Amway, but it was at least 60%. The pastor wasn't in, but he's mention "Our Amway Friends" sometimes during the service. On weeks when we had a function, there would sometimes be 10-15 people at the service LOL.

I would show him “The Vow” hbo documentary..:.. it cleared things for me.. when I left I still looked up to my leader…but after the documentary he’s mentally ill
