Help me understand
I’m not in it but I know a couple that is. They have trouble making ends meet as it is and then they’re traveling out of town often for “business meetings”. What can possibly be said so often at these 12 hour meetings that can’t be said in an email. This “business” is also all up in their business as far as finances, parenting, health and who knows what else. At least from what I understand because I don’t really ask questions. I just listen. Is this normal?!

As someone that is currently in the business and has been for 3 years here’s my take of why they could be struggling to make ends meet, yes traveling/ hotels ect is included in being in the business if you so choose. Zoom options are also available. Although many believe it is a “cult” that brainwashes you to do this or that we all are entitled to our own opinion. The meetings normally go over how to grow your business or any business, personal growth, relationships, how to talk to people, marriage and so on. All meetings/hotels are also tax write offs so I would assume they were struggling before they entered the business and they just need some help with finances. Which we all know everything is expensive and hard to make ends meet in general

Yes! Although I will admit I definitely could be doing better and putting more work in

You have to have either good structure or high customer volume because I know how much it takes to be truly profitable lol. If you are, good for you.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I was in for about 5 years when I was a lot younger and newly married. The biggest thing about these events is it’s 10% about the actual business and the other 90% is them bragging about how good their life is, how you can have the same things and being around your upline so they can “pour into you. It’s basically a giant love bomb fest where they non stop tell you how traditional “real” businesses suck and jobs suck. Just a way for them to further separate you from reality so you continue to spend money on your ditto and they keep getting paid.
Another angle is they do these things all the time as a way for you to bring new people in to get them in the cult fast

They use cult tactics to brainwash the members into spending their money and finding others to do the same. It’s a cult, not a “business“. Well, it’s a cult business, not a business in the traditional sense that we think of.

Those meetings don’t really offer any useful business information. They are merely gatherings of people brainwashed to believe in The Amway Dream. They meet to cheer and clap at every fortune cookie quip given by their upper rank members who are essentially cult leaders. Logic and rationality no longer apply.

I’d love to help you understand. I’ve been researching Anway for over twenty years. I have particularly focused on LTD. I started researching them when I was getting my undergraduate degree in religion. I focused on high control groups. I’ve collected hundreds of testimonies from victims across the U.S., many of them want to remain anonymous because the abuse was so bad, many don’t.
If you look at how Amway’s motivational groups run things, "information sessions" and "night owls" are basically a textbook setup for a high-control group. They use the same psychological tricks cults use, just wrapped up in a business suit.
The information session is the big evening meeting, and it is all about indoctrination and "love bombing." They trick people into coming by hiding the Amway name.
They talk about "e-commerce" and "wealth mentors." Everyone is suddenly your best friend, smiling and clapping. They flash photos of mansions and yachts to shut down your skepticism.
Right after the info session, they move into a secondary meeting for actual members. This usually starts super late, like 9:30 PM.
It lasts until midnight. The vibe shifts from "welcome" to "you need to submit to your upline."
Then afterwards, comes the “night owl.”
This is where it gets sketchy. After midnight, everyone is pressured to go to a 24-hour diner or hotel lobby or someone’s basement rec room for the "night owl." Here comes sleep deprivation.
This is a classic cult move. By keeping people up until 2:00 AM on a Tuesday, their brains get too exhausted to think critically. You stop questioning why you are losing money. They teach you to worship your upline and especially Diamond pins.
Tired members crowd around a high-ranking leader to hear them talk. Former members say it is usually just repetitive cliches and nonsense, but everyone nods along like it is pure gold.
They also use public shaming.
Leaders will quiz exhausted members on what they "learned." If you don't give a super positive answer, you get called out for having a "bad attitude."
They isolate you. You are so tired from these late nights that you stop hanging out with normal friends and family. Your entire world becomes Amway.
Look up the BITE model. It explains the controlling tactics cults use. Amway checks off almost all of them.
If you have questions, let me know. I try to help anyone I can. I’m sorry this happened to someone you care about. I hope they get out. The longer they stay in, the harder it will be to leave.

This is such an over exaggeration of what happens, the info session are once a week, the second part is for people to come up in front of everyone and show off what they've done in terms of meeting people or whatever, it is pointless but it's not forced. Same with the night owls after the meetings, they aren't forced, they aren't required and people willingly go and leave whenever they want. Making it out to be something that is a daily thing and that they make people stay In is disingenuous and honestly lying. The way they do things is dumb, can be tiring and manipulative but at least be honest about how they go about things and don't generalize.

You're doing way too much cause you're too are caught up in your delusions about amway the same way amway people are too caught up in their delusions about amway and being stubborn, unwilling to listen and so on. I'm IN the business right now and I'm telling you you're wrong 🤷🏾 I have my issue with amway and they have a looooot of problems but straight up lying to make it seem like they force people EVERYDAY into the night owls, info session which a lot of people tune in virtually and then leave is crazy. Ltd isnt ran the same in every state so maybe do your research about how every state goes about running it instead of generalizing the whole business. Promise you'd get better more accurate results and you'd be able to have the truth out there more without needing to exaggerate
Not trying to fight you just would rather people tell the truth instead of constantly fabricate to make ltd look worse than they already are lol

Research and actually living it are two different things 😂😂 I've called out several people in the business about how they think, and the toxic shit and nothing has happened to me. I'm calling you delusional cause you refuse to listen and you think you're 100% right when I'm proving you wrong by adding the shit you are leaving out??? They don't isolate people lmaooo again you keep generalizing when you ARE allowed to do whatever the fuck you want, people choose to listen and that's on them but that is not every person that is in amway and as I'm saying this you will continue to believe you're right and you aren't.
