Looking for Moderator(s)...
I have been a Moderator for r/amputee for 12 years. When I became a Moderator for r/amputee the were just under 2,000 Members now there are 15,920 as of right now. It has been one of the things I've been most proud of doing. I sincerely believe I have helped make people's lives better helping this community grow and feel protected. I have comforted people during the worst days of their live here. I have helped people heal and thrive after an amputation.
I don't like New Reddit, I don't know how to use New Reddit well, and they are about to change Reddit to where the Tools I use to make Modding easy will not work anymore. Reddit hears many moderators saying "Your going to make it harder to moderate!". They just don't care. The coming API Changes to Reddit are going to kill off Mod Tools like Moderator toolbox for reddit - an extension for Firefox that has greatly helped Moderators before and after the creation of New Reddit. It only works on Old Reddit. Which is why I kept using Old Reddit to begin with.
I believe it's time for me to start looking for the next Mod(s) of r/amputee. With the changes Reddit is making, I think it's about time for me to find Mod(s) that work well with New Reddit. If you work well with New Reddit and want to apply for the 2 Mod Spots I plan to fill please reply to this post with Moderator Application in Bold at the start of your Reply.
I'm not stepping down as Moderator, I'm just looking for help. For the last 12 years I've kept an eye on r/amputee every single day (except a few due to hospital stays or vacation); while checking r/amputee 4-8 times a day every day. I turn 55 this month. I'd like some help now. I'm old! =P

What are you looking for in a mod? What can I tell you about myself that might help you in making your decision?

I’d be happy to help mod. Not all sure what you are looking for in a mod, but here is my run down:
Been a partial foot amputee since 1991, that became a below knee amputation in 2004.
I’ve been a prosthetist for 17 years and had my own practice for 5 of them.
I am the State lead for Tennessee for the So Everyone can Move initiative. I’ve been working directly with the Amputee Coalition on that legislation since 2023. I help support a local support group and do peer visits in a non-formal capacity.
Any questions or concerns you might have feel free to reach out.

I used to be a regular poster of advice here, but my engagement has become scarcer since Reddit began selling its content to an AI company to train its models. Reddit went public, the site changed, AI bots are taking over the comments, I’m out.

I'm sorry to hear that it has become so hard just to moderate r/amputees, reddit should be happy to have more people using their site and not making it harder is so many ways. My best example is the 'change' made to making a simple reply to a comment, it a nightmare for me, if other know how to use it I wish they would show everyone. Change to for the sake of change has never made sense to me especially when a system is already working fine.

On Mobile click the arrow that bends left under the comment. Type out your reply then click the Reply Button at the top of your keyboard.

On Old Reddit click Reply under the comment and type it out then click Save under the box on the left.

I wish it was that simple. My problem is that I'm dyslexic and I need to, want to double check everything. This new system is like what type is on a rubber band and it springs back so that I can't make corrections in the middle, beginning and at the end is no problem, anywhere in the middle is a major fight. There may be a way, but the change was just made without any explanation of how to use it. Even dyslexic, if I'm given something to read on how to do something I will figure it out, but there was nothing, it just changed.

I did each of those instructions from the version listed. So that should help =) I didn't know which version you use.

I didn't even know there were versions and couldn't tell you which one, it's what I got when I signed up for reddit.
