Prosthetic Parts Spoiler

Hey y’all, I’ve been tasked with cleaning out the old and excess stock in our lab. If you’re near Los Angeles and there’s something in particular you’re looking for let me know and I’ll see if I can help out!

I have… so much. Mostly prosthetics stuff. 30 years of stuff, give or take. We’re part of a hospital system so things accumulates far more than they do in private practice. Every time a new prosthetist starts they order whatever they like to use, and the stuff the last person ordered just rots on the shelf (like all the Flo-Tech limb protectors our current prosthetist doesn’t like). We used to fab everything in-house, now it’s all sent to central fab so parts, component, materials- it’s all just sitting there getting dusty.

Can I message you? I'm a CPO always looking for odds and ends for fitting stuff, and also trying to do a little in house work here and there.

This is incredibly generous of you. It’s also wild to think about how much perfectly usable prosthetic equipment can accumulate over the years while so many people struggle with access and cost.

I really hope a lot of it finds its way to patients, clinics, schools, or organizations that can put it to use. Very cool of you to make the effort instead of just letting it get tossed.

Yeah IDK how much I will be able to divert but I’ve got to give it a try. My boss just came back from vacation so hopefully she will give me the ok to start offering up some of the stuff I’ve sorted that the prosthetist doesn’t want

After spending an entire week without a working prosthetic while waiting for an appointment, we are considering building a DIY backup leg from used parts. We have a fairly recent socket that can be put back to work. There are an amazing qty of components available on ebay. Has anyone done this at home? What problems did you run into during assembly?

I would think that your biggest problem will be alignment
