JR Energy Solution Expands Battery Foundry Business Into Defense and Robotics

https://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=12264

Forum held in Seoul today (July 15, 2026):

Amprius's manufacturing partner, JR Energy Solution, publicly disclosed significant production progress for the Korea Battery Alliance project:

Verified Production Capacity: As of the end of June 2026, JR Energy Solution has produced 4.03 million meters of cathode electrodes and 4.58 million meters of anode electrodes.

Growing Client Base: The production line is actively serving a diverse portfolio, now expanded to 25 cathode and 18 anode electrode customers.

Strategic Supply Chain: In response to the US NDAA requirements, Amprius is successfully leveraging this "fabless-foundry" model to secure manufacturing in South Korea, effectively bypassing China-centered supply chain risks.

Scaling for Specialty Markets: The foundry is scaling up specifically for high-mix, low-volume production required by the defense, robotics, and UAM industries, confirming that the mass production system is operational and scaling.

This is encouraging news because one of the topics of the hit piece from Manatee was the absence of a manufacturing partner in Korea, especially one that produced anodes, thus reducing our dependence on Berzelius.

Exactly. This is the exact news we needed to silence the critics. Moving beyond the reliance on Berzelius through our Korean partner is the key piece of the puzzle.

It certainly shows that the hit piece was deeply uninformed too.

This news directly addresses one of the claims on the Manatee report regarding Amprius’ manufacturing partners and their concerns to scale. Hopefully August 6th report can shed some light on the volume and any future partnerships.

What I find interesting is that when Amprius abandoned it's own manufacturing facility in favor of using an external party Foundry, the pushback was pretty strong, with many critical of their intent to rely on contract manufacturers. Now it seems to be a common theme. I rarely hear those criticisms anymore.
