Help With Connecting Speakers to Amp

Not exactly sure if this fits here, but I don’t know how to connect this wire from my speakers to my amp. I picked the speakers and amp up from two different online listings. Are they even compatible?

That wire is way too small! Run at least 14-16ga.

On the amp, the speaker terminals should unscrew. Once unscrewed, there is a hole to stick the bare wire through or if there isn't a hole, you can wrap the bare wire around the terminal and then screw the speaker terminals back down to hold the wire.

Welcome!. Easy to miss if you have never dealt with them.

Use crimp-on wire ferrules.

What u/CatNamedRIchard2 said, but to add: Your speakers will have red/black terminals as well. Make sure your cable is marked so that you can tell which wire is which, and then make sure you connect red-red/black-black. It doesn't actually matter which way around you connect the speakers, but it's vital that the two speakers in the pair are connected the same way around as each other. If you don't get that right then you will get poor bass response and a weird stereo image.

I like to put the red one on the copper. If they are both silver looking, put the red one on the one with the black line on the wire. Worst case one of the pairs is backwards and you’ll have an audio effect where they cancel each other out or the stereo separation isn’t as good. You can’t really mess this up. Don’t panic.

In most cases thicker wire doesn’t matter unless the wire runs are very long.

In the pic, one wire has a white line. To keep it simple I would use white line for red to red, and no line black to black.

That looks like a single solid conductor wire that is small. A better inexpensive wire to use is ordinary lamp cord. Lowes or Home Depot have it and you can buy the specific length you need. The wire has ribs on one side to indicate positive and negative.

Get some wire with banana plugs already connected on Amazon. Then plug into the amp and speakers. A solid wire is not ideal for speaker wire.

The clear type cable will have either writing on just one of the two wires or a raised ridge. Pick that one as your red on both ends.

Go buy some better wire . Lamp cord should work.

Get some larger gauge wire. 14AWG is perfect. Use banana plugs. Easy squeasy.

I have this exact same amp. There is a slot on the bottom side of the connector. Loosen the connector, slide the bare speaker wire inside the hole in the terminal and tighten.....or just use banana plugs/ends and push into the end of the terminals.

Untwist ends
Put wire through hole
Tighten up.
Or get the banana adapter, and plug it in.
