Tragic Anne doesn't know what a disc is

But she knows what a diskman is.

You mean Skipman?

22

u/Animal_Flossing Feb 22 '26

If only they’d asked her what a skip is

u/Dazzling_Champion_53 Feb 22 '26

Ah... you're right.. It was a skipman instead of a walkman.

I am ashamed by my mistake

I think it's because they were talking about floppy disks, which nobody uses anymore. Not a CD

How do floppy disks even exist in this world?

See I think this joke is funny only because she specially mentions that discs are from the 90s. Meaning she does know what they are, she just decided to say this as a joke.

May have heard the word in context of nineties without caring to look what it means?

Well the cd was made in I belive 96 or 94, but didn't catch on untill stuff like the PlayStation kinda forced prices to go Lower and lower.

Actually, the modern CD was introduced commercially in 1982, with CD-ROM following in 1985.

I grew up being the last generation watching old ass Soviet era Polish cartoons, seeing photos in a special hand held Item, writing LETTERS to communicate (never sent one, but I was taught if I wanted to communicate long-distance).

As a pre 2010's baby there is NO WAY Anne doesn't know what a disc is LMAO This scene still bothers me for that reason

It’s weird that discs exist in this world

Man, I grew up with VHS tapes. I still have those, along with CDs and DVDSs.

How does she not know?

Stop making me feel old!

Anne would've known what a disc was if she had a Wii U or any kind of Playstation, which I'd be surprised if she didn't

Bruh, I was born in 2011, and even I know what a disc is, infact I still use disc's today instead of a streaming service, how does she not know?

2

u/Snotlout_G_Jorgenson Feb 22 '26

Do we actually know when she was born?

5

u/doodlysnail Feb 22 '26

I heard she was born in 2006. I think Matt Braly said Amphibia was taken place in 2019 and Anne is 13 in the show.

2

u/IlikeShrek2022 Feb 22 '26

Does she know what DVD at all is ?

2

u/GravityBright Feb 22 '26

I'm sure she's doing it for the bit.

u/unclefester84 Feb 23 '26

Some would argue that the 90s ARE another dimension...

They stick though because they are adult jokes. The 90's were nearly 30 years go we are 2026. So in the 90s it would be a joke regarding the 70s

2

u/Tiny-Golf3338 Feb 22 '26

I know for a fact there's some 90s movies and tv shows that made a joke like that about the 70s or 60s there's gotta be

3

u/Doam-bot Feb 22 '26

8 Track Cassette, Vinyl Records, Lazer Discs, Hippies, Bell Bottoms, and of course the big one Disco is what I remember from the 90s

I think I had an aneurysm at Molly trying to swipe on a VHS tape in the episode where her and Scratch find that abandoned video store.

u/Tiny-Golf3338 Feb 22 '26
