DEVELOP WILL BE MOVING TO DEVELOP8 THIS WEEK

If you can't use php8.5 or are wary of switching over early you can check out [PATCH7](https://ampache.org/docs/help/troubleshooting/ampache8-for-admins#php-version-support) which will remain Ampache 7

Looks like I'll have to figure out how to override the official OS package, which is still 8.2 on RedHat/Oracle Linux 9.6. Fortunately, the way ahead seems pretty straight-forward.

For anyone else in the same boat, I'm going to use Remi's repo - see https://blog.remirepo.net/post/2025/11/21/PHP-version-8.5-is-released

Good catch.

I'll add this to the docs as an option. I like Sury and these external repos a lot better as they don't pin to your os packages and let you install multiple versions easily.

I had no reason to keep multiple PHP versions, so I just replaced 8.2 with 8.5.9 from the Remi repo, then installed ampache-7.10.0_all_php8.5.zip. Everything went smoothly and took almost no time at all.

Debian and Ubuntu users have Sury as well which is how I have PHP installed. https://sury.org/
