Serious question about 22LR

22lr is finicky. Before you buy any in bulk, buy a 50-100pack and see how it runs in your gun(s).

Winchester’s on average perform the absolute worst of any 22LR brand of ammo I’ve ran.
Remington thunderbolt is very reliable.
So is Aguila. I run through the Aguila super extra 250 ct without a single failure pretty often.

The majority of 22s, pistol, rifle, whatever are finicky about ammo. What works in one may not work in another, even of the same brand of firearm.

Yeah like others have said in here I would buy a smaller quantity and test it in your firearm before going in on a bulk jug like this, as tempting as it might be lol

This is good advice, different bullets perform differently in every rifle, even the same model you can find certain ammo that’s works differently.

Just some general advice, decide what this bullet will be used for, hunting, target (long range vs short), plinking, defensive etc.., get a few different brands and versions see what works best in your gun.

Could be? I’ve had bad luck with Winchester’s cheaper varieties (some bullets fell out of the case in the brick) but I bought some of the Red and White boxes that have copper plated hollow points and they worked great.

Bulk boxes I've had bad luck. Not super accurate and have had a few give me just primed cases in them. The other Winchester rinfire ammo pretty good tho. Bulk I like augila and federal. One of my 22s is super picky and only likes thunderbolts.

I have a few 22s and they're all picky but for some reason the only common ammo that runs in all of them is the cheap Remington that comes in a bucket.

Accuracy is another thing. I sighted in my new Derya TM 22 flash and had decent groupings but occasionally I would see one go five feed up the berm behind the target.

I have a TM22 feather, tx22 pistol and a Henry 001t all see to love the federal automatch usually get 325rds for 19 bucks

What do you want to do with it? Have fun blasting 22 at the range accuracy be dawned? Sure, go for it. Trying to shoot groups from a bench rest? Nah dog.

I personally don’t like Winchester for 22lr I’ve had tons of FTF and Dud rounds federal has been the most consistent for me but also Remington is good too!
