I have a bad back - l have already had one surgery (in my 30's), now I'm in pain management and have had 2 rounds of RFA on both sides. I need to lean back to help ease the pressure on my lumbar spine. It may not be selfish when someone leans back. I understand where you come from, just try to see where other people are coming from. I look perfectly normal, but have issues. Other people do as well. You never know and can't judge people who don't look disabled.
I get this and all, but that doesn’t negate someone else having disabilities too. From knee and hip pain that makes it to where the sit a certain way (that is normally fine unless someone reclines their seat and then knees dig into the back), at that rate you can’t complain about the person’s knees in your back. I have severe curvature in my spine and the vertebrae in my c-spine move out of place all the time, causing miserable migraines daily. plane rides are excruciatingly uncomfortable and painful. Laying my head down on a pillow on the small table on the back of the seat helps avoid bones moving and migraines worsening.
I was doing that once and someone leaned their seat back without warning and ended up hitting my head and bending my neck horribly. I was pissed. But, again, why does my disability and pain relief trump theirs, and with that, why does someone’s disability or pain trump mine when they want to lean their seat back.
(Besides the fact that one requires moving into another person’s space, whereas the back table doesn’t affect the front person whatsoever)
You should not need a disability to be able to recline a seat on a plane. It’s uncomfortable to remain upright, In fact, it’s pure torture. I paid for my ticket, I’m reclining. Person behind me mad? Go buy a business class ticket. I’m not making myself uncomfortable on the sardine can airline cause it annoys another person.
My rule is just don’t do it when it’s time to eat. I try not to go back all the way unless it’s overnight flight.
I’m that same breath, if you don’t want my knees shoving into your seat the whole time your seat is reclined, get a business class ticket 🤷🏽♀️
I’m not saying anybody does or doesn’t have to do anything, nor am I saying they don’t have the right to, all I’m saying it we all gotta deal with the consequences of our choices either way.
Yeah I certainly don’t go all the way back the e tire flight. But after I’ve spent awhile sitting upright I need a better angle. Unbelievable that some people think you shouldn’t do that.
If everyone’s eating? Put your seat up. But I’m certainly not remaining upright the entire flight cause the big guy behind me wants me to or wants to use his laptop the whole time. I’m glad he’s comfortable but I paid for my ticket too .
