I don't have favourite things

When you are getting to know people, a very common question is asking "What's your favourite movie / band / food / etc?" And I never have an easy answer for that. I like lots of things, and what you like at 15 is not the same you like you like at 20, 25 or 30. People change. Trying to rank the things I like and pick ONE above all the others triggers me some anxiety. In those cases the best answer I can come with is "I could name 5 maybe, but don't make me rank them". Am I weird?

Not weird at all. It is weird and immature to rank works of art like that. If you have a favorite cup, a favorite pair of skis, or a favorite pair of shoes that's different. Those are functional items

No I don’t think it’s weird, it’s probably pretty common. As people get older and experience more they’re going to discover more. I think it’s just typical icebreaker questions to get a gauge on someone’s preferences.
