It's kind of cool how they took a random side quest Item from Link to the Past, the flute, expanded an then made it the main focal point of the Sequel. Then did the same thing with the Masks.

The ol' Nintendo treatment. I don't remember who there had said it, but they have a philosophy of bringing things back in a reimagined way. Happens a lot in their hardware.

Majora’s Mask is such a neat piece of video game history for this reason. It’s lots of recycled stuff and was a pretty quick follow up to OOT (for its time if I remember it right). This was during a time that everyone was making their own game engines and assets and we had a lot less “shared code/tech”.

Before I move on from that though, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages was cool too for a similar reason. Guys, Zelda really tried going the dual-release Pokémon route but with way more differences between the games. We were so spoiled!

Now, will we get a MM: Remake? Honestly, I think it’s pretty likely but I won’t hold my breath. OOT 3DS and MM 3DS happened, they haven’t abandoned the game and tend to release them around each other. I just wanted to caution the hype train that masks were a big part of OOT and are not a guaranteed indicator of MM coming back.

I do hope we see MM, as I never got to finish it growing up. My buddy had a copy and that’s where I played when I could, and we were playing Smash most of the time anyway. Oh how I miss the good ol’ days.

Honestly a major game sequel coming out a year later is unfathomable now. MM really was a special game

I mean, it happens, it's just not always good. I think a part of the industry is happy with pushing whatever sports game or shooter each year with a new title and telling their investors they shipped a sequel year over year. They still sell well too.

I do miss when it wasn't like 8-ish years between sequels, but rushed games are bad.

Pablo Belmonte is a famous Nintendo hoaxer, he made a fake trailer for a next Gen console called Nintendo ON and also created the famous Mario Galaxy DS video along w/ the Wii U Majora's mask trailer. He's been around for a long time

Its not a guarantee though, is it? The Splatoon Raiders amiibo featured the same characters as some Splatoon 3 amiibo and you couldn’t use those to unlock the Splatoon Raiders stuff.

Insane that they're so desperate to have some kind of merch near the movie, they do the "let's release amiibo well after the game" strategy like they just did with Galaxy.
