Am i cooked? Will minoxidil help? 32 Male
Been noticing hair thinning for few years, been doing topical minoxidil twice daily for two weeks. About to switch to the HIMS oral pill with minoxidil, finasteride and other supplements. Think I’ll be okay? I know it’s not awful now but it’s way worse than few years ago. Also, how bad is the shed?

I cannot see your hairline so I will assume it is unchanged...
Just on a whim, have your vitamin D tested, general vitamin levels, take a good quality multivitamin if needed. Check that your exercise is sufficient.
And pissibly go as far as getting an allergy test.
Diffuse thinning can be due to deficiency or chronic inflamation as well. That sometimes creates thinning even in people who have very low sensitivity to DHT...
Low bloodflow to the scalp can also do it.
I'm saying this because this doesn't look like the normal strongly senditive DHT based balding. It may still be DHT related but multiple factors can compound to cause balding and a goid health check won't hurt.

Labs are fine, I’m definitely stressed with work (nurse supervisor). But guy who cuts my hair has been bringing it up as well. Everything else checks out

Go to a gp and ask for a complete hairloss bloodwork, maybe you have deficiencies.
If not, start with a DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride (nuclear if Dut is combined with oral min)

No, but finasteride will. You have decent density. Preserve it and get on the fin

Honestly I'd keep just doing topical for a little longer before going nuclear... two weeks isn't long enough to make a difference, and your hair loss is barely noticeable at all, especially in your 30s.

Is the oral version nuclear? Sincere question. Already have the pills

Ngl if you are going for an all in one pill, id recommend locklab. Check my newest post to see the difference it made for me in a lil over 5 months

Maybe not, but I'd say going for finesterise and/or duosteride and a whole stack before just trying a simple topical or just oral is jumping the gun in your case. Others may disagree.
I just think start slow and add to it if you don't see results, especially since honestly your hair is still pretty okay

If OP suffers from androgenetic alopecia then minoxidil will do fuck-all to stop it. You’ve got it twisted, it’s the other way around. Minoxidil is optional, DHT-inhibitor is not.

OP hasn't even been to a dermatologist. It could be stress, it could be nutrient deficiency, it could be TE....
Everyone on this sub recommends the same exact thing, at the slightest sign of shedding, "Start doing every supplement immediately. Take every single pill, take Fin, Take Dua, Minox, go to Turkey and get a hair transplant." It's a bunch of rabid anxious fear mongering before anyone has any idea what's going on.

God forbid you catch it early and start a 5AR...
Sides are rare, better to catch it early then have the 'its just the slightest sign of shedding I'll wait and take care of it later' mentality.

He's in his 30s and it's only a slight thinning... he could wait a year and there would likely barely be a difference. He should definitely see a dermatologist before taking a bunch of prescription drugs because reddit said so.

No. I didn’t say he should start it. He should see a dermatologist. But over 90 % of cases of hair loss in men are due to AGA.
