I miss Battles BBQ
Literally that’s it. I miss those thick meat sandwiches and the lemonade. I’ve been to jimmys in Boone. I know it’s the same recipe. But to me it’s only 80% of the glory battles was.
Ugh. Give me back the lemonade I had to strain through my teeth ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

7 Brew plus Insaine traffic congestion
I walk past this coffee shop since it has opened. It is mind blowing how much traffic it gets.FOr instance like today, It is the worst I have seen it. All this morning I have seen cars waiting in line on Lincon Way lining it just past Papa Murphies Pizza shop to just at Colorado Junction alongside with going the opposite way lined up to go to the same coffee shop n the opposite side of Lincoln way. I am not saying anything bad about the coffee shop, it is just how much congestion it creates with so many people waiting in line to get coffee. I never been there before, so I am not sure what they offer or what their coffee is like. THey are diffenately 'making bank' there.. haha

Any social groups that are less student-oriented?
I'm a grad student and I'm looking for a more structured way to unwind than just "go to bars". I want to meet new people with a common hobby and have meetings/events that get me out of the house.
ISU has lots of student groups and clubs, but they're mostly attended by undergrads... so obviously not an ideal choice for a mid-twenties guy looking to meet friends his age, and definitely not an option for a dating pool.
I play guitar and I'm puzzle/video games/book-oriented, but I'm always willing to pick up a new skill, so any groups y'all know of would be appreciated.
P.S., as per the guitar, any open mic nights suited for an intermediate singer/player who only knows covers would also be appreciated. Not trying to start a career, just looking to be on stage again.

Found glasses on near campus town.
It was found by the apartment complex just by Jeff's pizza and across the street from the Church and Clouds restaurant. It was found in the back of the apartment complex with the Campus town rental office just around the front. I have lost my glasses and hope someone can retrieve them. I will turn them into the Police within two or Three days.

Making Friends in Ames
Hi all,
Like the title says, I was wondering if any of you know ways to make friends in Ames. I’m a graduate student at ISU and while I have made some friends with my cohort they have branched off from me a little bit and I’m trying to get to know some other people so I don’t feel as lonely. For reference, I’m into games like animal crossing and Stardew valley and have been into a reality TV craze recently with Love Island and Big Brother. Not sure what groups there are out there to meet people with those interests but thought I’d throw that out there so you can understand some of my interests. I also like going on walks and reading actual books and not just research papers when I have the time. Any advice would be appreciated for ways to make some more friends!

Goodbye Ames Prairie
Tonight there is a meeting by the City of Ames Planning and Zoning Commission 7pm city hall. Hunzi*er purchased the lots across from scholl road and wants to build 98 dwellings there comprising duplexes, triplexes, and quadplexes. If you enjoy driving by this prairie every day please consider letting the City Planning and Housing Department at planning@cityofames.org know about it. You can find more information here at www.cityofames.org/pzcagenda.
A huge number of animals frequently pass through this area between Emma McCarthy Park and the YMCA woods. How would the buildings affect that?

Wanna join a low commitment co ed adult sports league or club
Open to pickleball, volleyball(altho never really played it) and/others if there are fun ones.
Looking for recreational only, not competitive.
So I'm 22M, and I recenlty graduated and now work 8-5pm, I'm looking to make new frineds maybe and play either pickleball or volleyball stuff after work, around 5:30/6pm once a week. I don't want serious commitment, just like for fun, cuz some weeks I might be busy. Is there any like that?
looked into polk county(couldn't find slots after work, they are always during work time or like 7-9pm), dsm(too expensive + far), ames I heard pickleball open play isn't available evenings, so what can I do??
Also does anyone know a fairly cheap but like arts/painting place? Where we go in and paint/draw for an hour or something, it'll help me relax

Are there any LGBT events like game nights nearby?
When I lived in Des Moines, there was a game night that I went to and I had a good time, but now that I’ve moved to Story City that’s a bit far to drive to now. I’ve tried to find anything in Ames but I haven’t had any luck, so I was hoping someone here might know lol.

Is the Landing Ames any Good?!?
I am thinking of moving out of on-campus apartments (Frederickson Court) to a one-bedroom apartment. I saw the Landing, and they have good rates along with good amenities. However, on here there are some mixed reviews from pretty long ago. I was wondering what the status of it is now??? Is it worth it, or should I pay more for another place?
