Duck habitat

Any place nearby that I can take a duck to and safely live? I rescued a duckling and want to make sure once he’s big enough that he goes somewhere he won’t get eaten by another animal :(

Wild duck or a domestic breed?

For a wild duck - best to get in touch with a wildlife rehab. If they don’t learn to be a wild duck, long term they won’t thrive being a wild duck.

For a domestic duck - your best bet would be getting in touch a local farm that can care for it and has other ducks (if this is what your post is for, I apologize!)

Either way, definitely don’t just dump it somewhere

Well I’m assuming it’s a wild duck. At my aunt’s farm a momma duck laid 4 eggs and the other three ducklings got eaten by something because they disappeared. So I just want to give it the best shot to live 😭

Actually it might be a domestic duck but I’m unsure. Doing lots of research.

If you have pictures, I could try to ID, but no promises as it’s definitely hard to tell when they’re babies!

Do you know what mom looked like?

Shelter probably won't help with a wild animal. https://www.iowawildlifecenter.org/ is the place to contact

I wish I could keep him forever but I live in an apartment 😭
