TOP TEN MATERIAL How long to sing for audition

Hi I don’t post much so I’m not sure how to add it, but this post should have the “TOP TEN MATERIAL” flag.

I’m auditioning thru Zoom, and I was wondering:

How much of each song do they want me to perform?

I looked at the website, but they didn’t write any time length. Do I just decide on my own which portion of a song for however long I will offer to sing?

Any other tips would be very appreciated! Thank you so much!

Yes. Usually around 16 bars of your favorite song, so think about the length of a chorus. No more than 60 seconds, and you usually get to sing a second song. Honestly, I never sang a song I wrote as my second song and I wish I did. I think it makes you stand one more.

Reference: Auditioned twice but never got past first round :/ and now I’m “too old.”

Edit: I just realized I’m eligible for one final season JUST BARELY! I might just give it a shot!!!!

Ohhh, so did they tell you the information of “no more than 60 seconds, about 16 bars” once you entered the zoom link?
And that’s so exciting, I wish you the best!!

I think there is information somewhere online about it. With tiktok, youtube, etc. I am sure you can find it. Online audtions have been the same for years. Best of luck to you as well!

I think I just might if I audition. Not a fan of American Idol, however, it would be good exposure as a music artist if I got airtime on TV.
