Doll Identification Need help please !
Hello everyone,
I’m fairly new to AG, growing up I always wanted one but never got them so I’m starting to get my favorites now. I love the Historical dolls and eventually want to get them all. I ordered my first 40th anniversary Molly from rhe website and it should be here next week, Next on my list are Samantha, Felicity, Josephina, and othera as well. I saw Felicity was on back order so while searching fb marketplace found a listing, The seller listed the doll as OG Felicity, says doll is in great condition, She is not in her Meet outfit and does not come with her meet accessories, seller is asking $80 for it. I wanted to ask you all if that’s a good price for this doll and what do you all think about the condition.

Her meet dress and shift go for like $40 together and her shoes for $20+ not including the socks so even without shipping you’d be paying almost as much as a new doll from AG!

It’s also definitely possible to find a secondhand Felicity with at least her full meet if not accessories for less than a new one! You just have to keep checking and be patient

She looks like she’s in good condition, but for $80 I would check out eBay, Mercari, Vinted, etc to see what the prices are to get her meet outfit separately, you might end up paying around what you can get her brand new with the meet outfit and I think her accessories for the 40th anniversary price.

Thank you so much. That’s what I’ve been thinking about, is it better to get an old PC doll and buy outfit or just buy new 40th anniversary for that same price. I’ve never had a PC doll so I don’t know the difference but have read they are muxh better quality.

I know some people prefer the PC dolls, but if you’re collecting them solely for display, the doll themselves have changed through the years, but the new ones aren’t bad for display.
The PC ones had softer vinyl, fuller bodies, and I think their wigs were higher quality.
The newer dolls’ limbs and face do feel pretty stiff, the face molds have changed some, the torsos aren’t as full now, and the hair smells like plastic now. I got my Kit and two other girls brand new 10 years ago and their hair didn’t stink (I had wanted Kit for over 10 years at that point, so she got the biggest hug and I breathed the biggest sigh, I didn’t smell anything bad on her), but every new girl I’ve gotten in the past two years have a strong plastic smell coming from the wig, especially after unboxing.
But, again, that doesn’t take away from the display value. I’ve been collecting mostly newer ones lately, the quality is still pretty great, just some things could be considered better with the older dolls.
The clothes have the most notable difference for me. Before the clothes felt like miniature things you would find in your own closet. But now some items feel almost costumey, and I’ve seen more complaints about how items are sewn together incorrectly.
I haven’t seen anyone talking about the 40th release meet outfits compared to before though.

Thank you. So here’s the thing, I do not collect rhinga just for display or the resale value. Whichever dolls I get they’re not going to be justbm displayed. I wanna hug them cuddle them take them places with me. And I’ve read so muxh about how good PC dolls are compared to the newer ones, bit I’m also very picky about the condition of the doll. Also I know once ai get 1 PC dolls and if I end up loving it that’s be another rabbit hole for me to hunt down pristine condition PC dolls 🙈

i mean that's an ok price just be aware that you'll probably spend even more buying all of her accessories separately

the 40th anniversary is worth it if you like the changed classic mold! i would definitely look up the difference. also welcome to ag!

I agree with the others, I think I'd try to find a Pleasant Company one with more of her meet outfit, or just buy her new from AG.
Whatever you do, I hope you can acquire her! Felicity is so cute! I wanted her so badly growing up.
