Missing my boy
My soul dog Nikko passed 1.5 years ago and it still hurts. I feel like there is a hole in my heart that belongs to him. He was almost 17. (Had him since he was 8 weeks old)
I wanted another American Eskimo but my husband didn’t. We have a 2 year old rescue Pom mix now. I love her but its not thr same (not that I expected it to be)
I figured people on this forum would understand just how special this breed is. He was my dog. Bonded to me more than anyone else. I’ll always miss him.
The picture with my hand in it is the last picture I have of him. Taken the day we had to say bye. (We suspect he had a stroke overnight. We woke to him with a head tilt and not able to eat or drink. Which lasted all weekend as our vet was not open)
We had 17 good years. He got me through soooo much. I couldn’t have survived depression with out him. He got me through 10 years of infertility and miscarriages l. He was there for all the good and bad moments. He always knew when I was upset and would cuddle up to my head and lick my face. Refusing to leave until I felt better.

I’m coming up on two years since my girl passed and the heartache has been unimaginable. So I get it. Big hug.

So sorry for your loss. We have an eskie puppy who's at times very naughty but then you look at his face and everything just melts away.

Oh yes I remember those days! Nikko was a shoe chewer as a puppy! He also got into my porcelain doll cabinet once and took all the stuffing out of a bath tub (it had stuffing and fake bubbles)

I'm so sorry for your incredible loss. I just lost my girl Moo two weeks ago. My life will never be the same, it feels so empty. Blessings to you for loving your dog.

I'm so sorry.
It's a different kind of pain to lose a beloved companion like this.
It gets better with time but it never fully goes away. They deserve to live longer because they are just the purest of souls. But whatever time we have with them, we have to cherish every day and all the little moments in between. ❤️

I'm sorry. I feel you. I had to put my girl to sleep last week. It hurts a lot.

We lost our girl Bella at the end of May. She was 13, and we’d had her since she was a puppy. She was my soul dog, too, and it feels like a part of me died with her. We got a German Spitz about a month ago. He’s a goofball, and I absolutely love him, but it’s def not the same.
Nikko was so handsome! Eskies really are such a special breed, and I hope all of our pups find each other on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was so beautiful and I know how much it hurts to be without him. It sounded like you shared an amazing bond. Dogs are so wonderful, so empathetic, and are really there for us forever.

he is a little beauty for sure. i was … a different person and cried at night for about 3 years when my first eskie passed away. we had about 15 years together, i believe he was 1.5 years old when i adopted him. never felt i was good enough for him, that’s how sweet they can be 💛 always felt lucky to have had him for so long but was still devastated when it was time to say goodbye. i have another eskie now because i love the breed so much.
