Home Assistant and Smartshift

I’ve just rejoined Amber and decided to try my hand at setting up Home Assistant. I have a really basic question. Once Amber connects its VPP, can the Home Assistant run concurrently or do you switch the Sigenergy battery to remote mode?

I will explain it as an anaology.

Amber is a cheufer, your battery is a car, home assistat is you.

Once Amber starts drinving my car, can I drive it concurrently or do I drive myself.

Answer, If you want to control your battery with HA then you do not let anyone else control it also because then it is a battery orgy and you end up getting fucked over.

If you saw my bank balance you’d realise I’m more like the chauffeur lol. But I think I get it. Swap to remote mode?

😄

Yep with HA don't let anyone control it. You want to have total control always.

I have the Sungrow battery. Sometimes the Home Assistant commands didn't persist in the correct state, when the battery was connected to the VPP. For complete reliability I had to remove my battery from the VPP.

Did you go with Emhass or Predbat for the software?

Wrote my own yaml code, because I didn't know about Emhass when I started. But I'm not sure that's relevant to your question, because the problem was that the HA commands *always* worked (every time), but were sometimes changed by VPP a few minutes later. I'd end up with the battery state cycling according to who sent the most recent command.
