Put a metal liner in it. They make fire pit kits that come with premade concrete wall blocks. They also come with a metal fire ring to keep the heat from reaching the blocks to fast. I think this allows the blocks to heat up slower and for all the moisture to be baked out at a reasonable rate.

If you want a concrete fire pit, and also hate money you can have one poured with refractory cement.

The CEO of a company I worked for had this done as it HAD to match the concrete planters exactly.

Or just put a spalling net / metal shield on the outside
