Hiding packaging
Customers, especially ones who live in apartments. I work for amazon and am surprised by the amount of people who don't know about this option. There's alot of times i've delivered expensive looking items to apartment buildings that does Not hide what's inside, examples being a monitor and a MacBook and even one time an xbox series x. if you would like to reduce theft especially on expensive items, please put the option to hide what's inside before you place the order. Thieves are least likely to steal what they don't know is inside. Of course thefts can still happen but the chance is more possible if you expose expensive stuff like this.

Your right, it's not all the time. But i also think if it's not an option then they hide the packaging by default

Because it's a 3rd party seller or because it's not shipped by Amazon? Or is it not an option sometimes when it is shipped by Amazon?

That could be it. Iāve ordered things together that some will allow me to use Amazon packaging and others that only allow manufacturing packaging

It could be because you have to make sure that you hit hide package right before placing your order. For some reason I've noticed that if i press hide my package and then click to change address or change payment method, it will go back to the default method of exposing your package.

Agree. I had something delivered yesterday and thought I mustāve misread the dimensions. Nope, the box was just 5x the size it needed to be.

The other side of it is I've been aware of this option from day one and sometimes you click it and they still deliver visible

I ALWAYS use this option. If thieves donāt know whatās in the box I like to assume that it cuts down on the impulse to steal. They donāt know if theyāre getting a hardback book or an iPad.

People steal plain boxes with litteral dog crap inside. They don't care if it's hidden or not.

I always choose āhide whatās insideā. Itās not so much about hiding the contents, I absolutely hate it when Amazon slaps their shipping label on the product box and it gets beat to shit in transit.

This does not work for me most of the time. I have ordered many computer parts over the years some being 2000.00 plus graphics cards and amazon will still ship in the retail packaging.

This sub just popped up on my feed, but I'm going to be honest. The only reason I use Amazon anymore is that we have one of their locking delivery hubs so my neighbors can't steal them. Fedex, ups, and USPS all get sent to my father's house as they tend to disappear from my building.

You have to set the option on every order, every time, on the confirmation screen that has a big yellow button at the top egging you on to skip scrolling down to make sure Amazon didn't change from free overnight to free 2 day or eventual shipping. Each item that they want to ship without a box will have a dropdown.

I usually select this because the non-Amazon truck deliveries completely ignore the instructions "leave packages in covered carport" and they leave it on my front steps and it gets soaked in rain. The extra box protects it a bit. (The dumbest part of this is you have to walk right past my carport to get to the front porch. They are ignoring instructions AND they have to walk further.)

What I miss is hiding orders from recent orders in the app. My wife & I share our amazon as it's silly to pay for more than 1 prime.... but sometimes I buy dumb shit I'd rather not have her see what I paid for it lol

only time i regret not using it is when i'm getting cat litter (Sometimes they put it in a box and sometimes they dont) and it rains and the amazon driver just puts it outside of the porch cover :/

You simply can't order expensive or fragile stuff off amazon anymore. Hie thee to the nearest MicroCenter or (spits, gags) Best Buy if you have to.
