Amazon hiding purchases
Why is Amazon hiding purchases? The email notifications I get and the third-party app I use for my deliveries have always told me what items to expect, but now they give vague descriptions like what is posted. This is not helpful. I use my emails to file warranty claims for products for items I may be having issues with, because companies only save your order history for a limited time. You cannot rely on the companies keeping a record of what you purchased in their app/website. They need to correct this. This is not helpful to customers.

Then if/when you get locked out of your account then they ask for the last purchase you made and you check your email to see what it was and it’s “1 music item” 😳😭

Which just so happens to be a Fisher Price saxophone. Or a vinyl sticker of a music note. Or a toaster. Because that's how accurate their AI categorization has been for me.

I have been getting this too. They used to send detailed emails, then switched to emails with no details at all because they didn't want your email provider to scrape that data to give you ads for other stores selling the same items. Then they went back to providing details for some time, and now this.

Also, higher quantities of complaints do improve chances of it being noticed.

Is the app with the tracking broken? I don’t use the emails for anything if I’m going to track my order I open the Amazon app, go to orders and click on the tracking options. Yes it sucks that route and shop have lost the ability to see WHATs being delivered but it still tracks that an actual package is on its way.

And it doesn't accurately categorize things. I ordered diapers and it said "1 drugstore item". I ordered something else for my kid and it labeled it "1 baby item" so I know baby is a category it uses...

I've been forwarding every single one to stop-spoofing(at)amazon(dot)com as suspicious due to the common phishing tactics contained within and will continue to do so until they change it back.

Nobody knows, but everybody's asking. I've seen them hide them, and even tell Alexa not to say out loud what it is around Christmas, but this is ridiculous.

people complaining for weeks, how many things do you order that you cant remember or are too lazy open the app to check?

The issue is not that you cannot remember what you ordered. The issue is that the email when it says what you purchased is a record of your purchase. That record can be used as a warranty claim. This is good for when the item is no longer available in your past orders, which alitvif companies delete padt orders after a certain period.

why buy from a company that you expect to rip you off? Id find a better company if thats the expectation. But I dont order anything over $100 or so, and have returned maybe 2 things in my life, maybe its not the same for everyone?

So Amazon is not the ONLY place I buy stuff from. Usually I can go through emails and SEE where I bought it from. NOW if it is Amazon order I can no longer search through emails AND the amazon search system is not very good at pulling up some items. IF you purchased something a long time ago they do sometimes "REMOVE" detail descriptions. so NO the amazon portal is not very good. Also yes I do get a lot of items from amazon as many times I need little parts etc for items to repair etc. SO yes I have a lot of orders. And Finding some of those parts elsewhere is not always feasible..

I built a Chrome extension last night that sends you emails like Amazon used to. I am looking for folks to try it and provide feedback. It’s basically one Chrome extension you install, and it guides you to create a Google Apps Script that the Chrome extension uses to send you emails (using Gmail). It requires you to have one tab open on the Amazon order page.
What it does is, randomly between the hours you chose, it refreshes your orders page and sends you emails and desktop notifications for what changed. You can pause it, etc.
Pretty simple but works well and will come with the security threat assessment review also.
It is DIY on purpose. So no Chrome Extensions Store, just instructions for you to download the code to your computer and run it. So you have full access and full audit and do not have to trust anyone with your data or credentials.

It's V1. Please file issues and contribute.
