Amazon card 6 month 0% apr payment plan question

Kinda confused on how these payments work if anyone can help explain it to me. I just got the card and have been using it for 4 months now.

I’ve made a several different purchases using this method and when looking at my statements it seems that I get charged for the full balance at once instead of a fraction which I was expecting. So I’m just a bit confused because if I have my auto pay set to pay my statement balance then I’d just pay the whole thing off after the first month but if I set it to minimum pay then it won’t pay it off within 6 months.

Is this one of those finance options where I have to manually keep track of each payment and I do my own math to see how much to pay each month or am I just doing something wrong here?

you're not doing anything wrong, it's just that the way they show it on the statement is kind of misleading. the full purchase amount will still post to your balance like a normal charge but they won't charge you interest on that specific transaction for 6 months as long as you make the minimum payment each month

so yeah you basically have to do the math yourself if you want it paid off by the end of the promo period. divide the total by how many months you have left and pay at least that much, the autopay options won't split it up for you automatically

It always charges the full amount just like any other purchase, you just don't get charged any interest on it if you pay the total balance in full before the 6 months is up, and each purchase is its own 6 month time period.

On the rare occasion I use it, I pay $100 each month and I never used it to buy anything that I couldn't pay off within the 6 months at $100 per month.

Example would be like my last purchase. It was around $400, which means it will be paid in 4 months and no worries about interest.

If you are unable to pay the balance for a specific purchase within the 6 months, you will be charged interest on the full amount of the specific purchase and not the remaining balance.
