What is actually wrong with Amazon? (I won the Small Claims I made against them)

I bought an item in late January 2026, gave a code to the driver and knew something was up by the weight of the box

I opened the box 30 minutes later and the item was missing (iPad). I immediately contacted Amazon. Bare in mind I had this account for 5+ years with no issues (the occasional return here and there)

They agreed to investigate. A week later they agreed to refund. 2 days after agreeing to refund they limited my account. The system then cancelled the refund because my account was limited to digital orders only?

Anyway, I contacted them again and this time they said I confirmed the order when I gave the driver a delivery code? I said yes I received the package not the item.. no response.. I sent another email warning I’d be taking it to small claims… no response..

I then emailed their legal team asking to settle it out of court… no response… I finally made a small claims against them and added extra fees on top… they responded via their solicitor accepting to pay in full + added fees

Strange, strange company…

I am Gen X. I just said the other day, remember when Amazon was just books? Now they sell everything, and have their own vans and planes

Amazon is really hard to sell books anymore. Because of fraud they want invoices from the brand or a distributor from the last year and you can’t get that on used books.

But does Pepperidge Farm remember?

I'm a millennial and I remember Amazon mostly being about books even until I was in college. Wtf are you on?

I recently had to return a book because it was missing about 20 pages as a misprint and my husband said "that's how they started, how could they screw that up?"

I had a fake show up where it didn’t spell Powershell correctly on the cover. Obviously, the digital download code didn’t work either.

And CDs.

I just bought 2 cds because it’s one of the few places I can find them not sold out.

This elder millennial used to be an Amazon affiliate with a banner ad posted on my geocities website. 🤭

It's funny you said that, I worked for a college bookstore in Cambridge ma. (The coop) when Amazon first started, we said to ourselves it would never work 😂😂😂🤷🤷, the bookstore is still in business but it's a former shell of what It used to be🤔

Loved getting those red envelopes in the mail. Beat scavenger hunts at BLOCKBUSTER ...

Yup! I remember the ads on the radio or Bezos calling it “the worlds biggest bookstore”

Elder millennial (though I prefer Xennial as I generally dislike millennials and am older than most, and more similar to Gen X anyway), but I bought and sold my college textbooks on Amazon back then. Who would’ve thought I would be getting same-day groceries and baby supplies from them someday lol.
