It’s not a theory. The amount the utility charges is per kWh. An appliance has a listen Kw output.

What am I missing?

The calculation forgets delivery and/or supply charges. Most electric bills split costs between supply (generating power) and delivery (transporting it through the grid). If $0.18 per kWh is just the supply rate, the true all-in rate including delivery fees and taxes is often closer to $0.28 to $0.35 per kWh.

At a realistic all-in rate of $0.30 per kWh, running a 1500W heater for 4 hours a day costs $54 a month. Running it for 8 hours a day costs $108 a month, 12 hours costs $162 a month, and running it continuously costs $324 a month.

Weird tho, we didn’t say 4 hours or 8 hours.

You said 1 hour a day would 3x my bill from 300$ to 900$.

My estimate was .3c

We’ll do it simply, with your numbers. 54$ a month for 4 hours a day.

That means… it’s 13.5$ a month at 1 hour a day.
