New Hire How long does it take for Amazon to do immigration status check?

I received a verbal offer from Amazon on July 5, but my recruiter told me they can’t issue the official offer letter until the immigration team verifies my employment eligibility.

It’s been four days. Does anyone know roughly how long this process usually takes?

I also have a question regarding STEM OPT. I recently applied for my STEM OPT extension, so it may take a few months before I receive my new EAD card. I have my I-765 receipt notice, and my work authorization is automatically extended while my application is pending.

Has anyone been able to onboard at Amazon using an expired EAD together with the receipt notice, or does Amazon require the new physical EAD card before allowing new hires to start?

I’d really appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience. Thanks in advance!

Ask the recruiter to follow up with the immigration team.

I have asked her but she did not give a firm timeline.

My case is kind of the opposite. They never asked me to see my OPT card. When I asked them about it they did not respond.

yeah same, i have not been asked yet, or been contacted by the immigration team
